🐝 Wyoming is blooming, and bumble bees are busy. As gardens, pastures, yards, and wildflowers come into bloom, it is a good time to pay attention to the pollinators moving through them.

➡️ One native species to know is the western bumble bee.

A helpful clue? Look for the white tail.

Western bumble bees nest underground, often in old rodent dens or other small holes, and researchers are watching this species because populations have declined across parts of its historic range.

Drought will exploit vulnerabilities no matter how good the grazing system. Warm-season annuals such as sudangrass and sorghum-sudangrass hybrids can help fill late-season forage gaps, producing quality feed and valuable tonnage when cool-season pastures slow down.
The season may be dry, but there are still opportunities before us. Growing the right forage for the conditions at hand is one way we might build resilience in tough a grazing year. the following article provides some reminders on how to make this forage work in a sheep production context:
