The Western Reserve Historical Society was founded in 1867 and is the oldest existing cultural institution in Cleveland. Through their extensive physical and digital archives, WRHS is preserving Cleveland and Northeast Ohio history for generations to come. The Cleveland Foundation has provided over 500 linear feet of analog archival documents including founder Fred Goff’s earliest publications.

The partnership between the Western Reserve Historical Society and the Cleveland Foundation has grown to include grant funding to hire a full time archivist for the African American archives as well as funding for their expanding digital archives.
