We want to share how incredibly proud we are of two of our former junior firefighters, Dayton Hesters and Logan Sikes. Both of these outstanding young men graduated high school this past May and have made the honorable decision to serve our country.

🇺🇸 Dayton Hester – U.S. Marine Corps
Dayton left Claxton on July 15th to begin his journey and is set to graduate from boot camp on October 9, 2026. After boot camp, he will be heading to Virgina. Dayton, we wish you strength and endurance. Semper Fidelis (Always Faithful)!

⚓ Logan Sikes – U.S. Navy
Logan just attended his opening ceremony yesterday, September 1, 2026, in Jacksonville to launch his naval career. Logan, we wish you fair winds and following seas! Hooyah!

Please join us in keeping both Dayton and Logan, as well as their families, in your thoughts and prayers as they embark on these amazing paths. The Claxton Fire Department will be following their journeys every step of the way.

Thank you for your service, gentlemen! Protect the citizens of our nation just like you protected our community. Always remember Logan and Dayton, once a part of the Claxton Fire family, always a part of the family! 🚒

Today around 12:40pm Chief Jason Stone received a phone call stating a tree had fallen on Bernie’s General store. Chief Stone sent Deputy Chief Kelly Crosby to check it out. Once he arrived on scene, he had Station 3 (Bellville) to roll an engine to stand by for precautionary. There WAS no fire.no injuries were reported

On July 24, 2026 around 11:18am Claxton Fire Department Chief Jason Stone was notified by phone there had been an accident at the intersection of Main and Ralph St with a vehicle upside down with entrapment. Chief Stone responded and advised Bulloch 911 to page out Claxton Fire Department personnel.
Chief Stone arrived on scene at 11:20 and determined everyone was out of the upside down vehicle and canceled any fire personnel that was enroute except Eng-3. Evans Co EMS took the patients to Evans Memorial Hospital to get check out. CFD assisted Claxton PD shutting down the intersection and work traffic until the roadway was cleared and the investigation was completed.

At approximately 3:00 AM, the Claxton Fire Department responded to a page regarding a boiler fire at McCord’s Cleaners. Upon arrival, Chief Stone confirmed active fire at the boiler location.

Crews immediately went to work and successfully extinguished the fire. We are grateful to report that no injuries occurred on the scene.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the mutual aid agencies and city staff that responded to assist us: Claxton Police Department, Evans County EMS, Evans County Sheriff’s Department, and the City Works supervisor. Community safety is always a team effort!

As you fire up the grill, gather with family, and enjoy the festivities, our top priority is keeping our communities safe. We love celebrating with you, but we want to avoid crashing your party! If fireworks are part of your plans, please protect your loved ones and your property by following these essential safety tips:

🎆 Firework Safety Rules 🎆

Supervise children strictly: Never let young children handle fireworks or sparklers—sparklers alone burn hot enough to melt glass (around 2,000°F)!

Keep water close: Always have a charged garden hose or a large bucket of water nearby in case of emergencies.

Never relight a "dud": If a firework does not go off, wait 20 minutes, then soak it completely in water.

One at a time: Only light one firework at a time, and never hold a lit firework in your hands or point it at anyone.

Watch where you aim: Clear the area of dry grass, mulch, and overhanging trees before lighting anything.

Soak before tossing: Let used fireworks soak in a bucket of water overnight before throwing them in the trash to prevent garbage fires.

🐾 Don't Forget Your Pets!🐾

Loud booms are incredibly frightening for animals. Please bring your pets indoors early before dark so they do not panic and run away.

Let's make sure everyone ends the holiday weekend exactly how they started it—safe, happy, and with all their fingers and toes!
