Huge shoutout to our relentless defense for stepping up and shutting down the Heron offense on pivotal plays when it mattered most! 💪🔒

At Evans County Schools, we know that strong readers build bright futures! Reading helps our students grow their knowledge, strengthen their imaginations, and develop skills that will serve them for a lifetime.

🤩✨This week, our Chemistry students brought their unit on electrons to life through flame tests! 🔥🔬

Tigers got to witness science in real-time as excited electrons jumped energy levels and released brilliant, colorful light. Safe to say, chemistry is always a little more fun when you get to (safely!) spark some flames! 💥👨‍🔬👩‍🔬

🧲 Magnetic Minds at Work in First Grade! 🔍

Mrs. McGlashan’s first graders have been busy exploring the power of magnets! Students investigated how magnets work and discovered some of the many ways we use them in everyday life.

Through hands-on exploration, our young scientists are learning to observe, gather evidence, explain their thinking, and communicate what they discover.

From refrigerator magnets and toys to latches and name tags, magnets are all around us!

🏠 Try it at home: Ask your first grader to go on a magnet hunt and see how many everyday uses for magnets they can find!

🧀🍋 Learning Our Way Through the Maze!

Over the past two weeks, our High School Transitions students have participated in a book study of Who Moved My Cheese? The story helped students explore important lessons about change, fear, adaptability, perseverance, and continuing to move forward when life does not go according to plan.

On Friday, August 28, they brought those lessons to life with a cheese-tasting experience! Students sampled several unfamiliar cheeses, explored different cracker options, and created their own flavored lemonades. Their reactions were definitely mixed 😂, but the real challenge was being willing to step outside their comfort zones and try something new.

Each cheese represented something students may encounter as they transition to high school—new friendships, academic challenges, discovering their identity, unexpected opportunities, changing goals, and planning for the future. Just as every cheese did not look, smell, or taste familiar, every new high school experience may not initially feel comfortable. However, students are learning that growth often begins with an open mind and the courage to explore the unfamiliar.

This activity was a fun and meaningful way to remind our students: When the cheese moves, we do not give up—we adjust, keep moving through the maze, and search for new opportunities! 🐭🧀
