We honor Dolores Huerta and a legacy that has inspired generations to raise their voices, stand with their communities and create change.
Today, we pass the microphone to the next generation, sharing reflections from an MCCS alumnus and current student on what her life and legacy mean to them.
Carlos Corona | MCCS Alumnus, Class of 2014
“It’s incredible that Dolores Huerta lived such a long life and remained active in her community throughout it. She made a difference in the lives of so many people across generations.”
Abryl Gutierrez | MCCS Student, Class of 2027
“She has been making a difference since the 1960s as a feminist and activist. Even today, women continue to face barriers, but especially during that time, it took tremendous courage to speak out. She built a legacy for future generations to follow and continue building upon, reminding us that ‘¡Sí, se puede!’”
May she rest in power, and may her legacy continue to inspire the next generation.
