Celebrating our refreshed Early Learners’ Literacy Nest!
This refurbished play space for kids up to age 5 was first created in November 2022 with funding from the Friends of the Edgewater Library. It has been completely redone with new furniture, a play kitchen, toys, and a rug. We think it looks great!

Last Saturday, we celebrated our refurbished Early Learners’ Literacy Nest with a rededication of the space—complete with ribbon-cutting ceremony! We were delighted to have some special guests in attendance, including Chicago Public Library Commissioner Chris Brown and Alderwoman Leni Manas-Hoppenworth. Our video features them along with Friends of the Edgewater Library President, Joanna Broussard, who shared the history of the play space and the founding of the Friends group 36 years ago.
