Happy Labor Day, Ranlo! 🇺🇸

Today, we recognize the hard work and dedication of the people who help keep our community, and communities across the country, moving forward each day.

Reminder that Town Hall will be closed Monday, September 7, in observance of Labor Day. We will reopen for regular business hours on Tuesday, September 8. Trash pickups will be delayed by one day this week due to the holiday. Please plan accordingly.

Whether you're enjoying a well-earned day off, spending time with family and friends, or heading into work today, we hope you have a great day! 💙

Later this month, we're excited to launch our newly redesigned website, built to be more useful, accessible, and transparent for the people who call Ranlo home. From one place, you will quickly be able to:

The new"I Want To..." section on the homepage allows easy access to some of our most-used resources, all just a click away. We've also made improvements to accessibility, including a new "Listen to this page" feature that can read website content aloud.

And because where we've been is just as important as knowing where we're going, you'll find more of Ranlo's history throughout the site.

Brush up on your random facts, get your thinking caps on, and come test your trivia knowledge! 🧠

The Ranlo Resource Network Committee invites you to join us for our first Adult Trivia Night at the Ranlo Lodge (2000 Spencer Mountain Rd, Gastonia, NC 28054) on Thursday, September 17.

Whether you’re a trivia pro or just looking for a fun reason to get out of the house, we are looking forward to an evening of friendly competition and plenty of “Oh, right!” and “I knew that one!” moments with friends and neighbors.

Trivia will be facilitated by TECH at Lowell and catch the food truck on site so you can grab something to eat while you play.

Ranlo Police Department K9 Goose has received a donation of body armor

Ranlo PD, NC - K9 Goose a has received a bullet and stab protective vest thanks to a charitable donation from non-profit organization Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. K9 Goose’s vest was sponsored by Vested Interest in K9s, Inc, and embroidered with the sentiment “Born to Love-Trained to Serve-Loyal Always.”.

Vested Interest in K9s, Inc., established in 2009, is a 501(c)(3) charity whose mission is to provide bullet and stab protective vests and other assistance to dogs of law enforcement and related agencies throughout the United States. This potentially lifesaving body armor for four-legged K9 officers is U.S. made, custom fitted, and National Institute of Justice (NIJ) certified. Since its inception, Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. has provided over 6,631 vests valued at $6.9 million to K9s in all 50 states, made possible by both private and corporate donations.

The program is open to U.S. dogs at least 20 months old and actively employed and certified with law enforcement or related agencies. K9s with expired vests are also eligible to participate. There are an estimated 30,000 law enforcement K9s throughout the United States.

Vested Interest in K9s, Inc., accepts tax-deductible contributions in any amount, while a single donation of $1,050 will sponsor one vest. Each vest has a value of $1800.00, weighs an average of 4-5 lbs., and comes with a five-year warranty. For more information or to learn about volunteer opportunities, please call (508) 824-6978. At our Back-to-School Bash, we wanted to give kids a chance to get outside, play, laugh, and just be kids.

From sack races, tug-of-war, spoon-and-egg races, and ring toss to carnival favorites like shooting hoops, duck fishing, break the plate games, and the high striker, there was plenty of old-fashioned fun to go around.

We also loved seeing some new food trucks join the familiar faces we've come to look forward to at Milltown Night each month. Thank you to all of our vendors for coming out and helping make the evening special.

Most of all, thank you to the families and neighbors who spent their Friday night with us. There's something special about seeing kids enjoying summer the way so many of us remember it, and we couldn't think of a better way to celebrate another school year beginning.

Thanks for another great Milltown Night, Ranlo! Looking forward to seeing everyone at our September Fall Festival! 💙☀️

Exciting progress is underway for the Spencer Mountain Trail! 🥾

Ashton Lamb with Carolina Thread Trail and Michael Applegate, Director of Parks, Recreation and Tourism for Gaston County, joined Town Manager Charlie Hansen and Drew Horine, Ranlo Experience Chair, to get a firsthand look at the latest updates and what's ahead for the trail.

We're excited to continue working alongside our community partners as this project moves forward and look forward to sharing more as we get closer to Fall 2026.
