Booth Library Located in the heart of the EIU campus, Booth Library serves students, faculty, and staff of Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, Illinois.

Visitors welcome; Illinois residents can obtain a library card. Booth Library, the general library of Eastern Illinois University, is named in honor of Miss Mary Josephine Booth, who served as head librarian at Eastern from 1904 to 1945. With the support of open-access technology at Booth Library, EIU interpersonal communications student M.E. Colby developed a captivating nature documentary film on the relationship between humans and butterflies in Illinois. 🦋 The voiceover narration for the film was recorded right in Booth Library’s podcasting studios!

This documentary, with an accompanying thesis paper, won second place in the undergraduate division of the Booth Library Awards for Excellence in Student Research and Creativity. 👏

That's a wrap on the academic year! Booth Library has had a phenomenal year, supporting connection and discovery through our many exciting events and programs.

🦸‍♂️ The first ever EIU Comic Fest was hosted in September 2025 and brought together members of the campus and local community for a lively celebration of pop-culture.

🎂 We celebrated Booth Library's 75th anniversary with a multitude of events including the Student Art Contest in the spring semester, which highlighted the artistic talents of EIU students.

✏️ Throughout the year, we had many opportunites to recognize the academic achievements of the EIU community and empower them to pursue interdisciplinary learning, as always.

We can't wait to create more memories with our community next year! 🎉
