What a fabulous end of the year! 🙌🏼❤️

We had such a great turn out for our Edness Kimball Wilkins State Park Family Day! We ended up having good weather. The rain and snow waited patiently for us.

We tearfully sent off our Forest School Graduates. Most moving on and some returning to join our new Homeschool group next year.

Graduation and the Art Auction was a great success. Thanks for all the contributions. Whether you donated your time with me in art class, hanging art, gifted us with your talented pieces or purchased something, it is greatly appreciated. I’m in awe of the generosity of our families. You helped me more than I can express. Thank you!

Thank you again and again for entrusting us with your preschoolers. We get such a small part of their educational years but we love laying the foundation. It’s so rewarding to see their growth in the time we get to have with them. It’s such a gift to be trusted with these first few years and we don’t take it for granted.

Thank you Discovery Depot families! We value you greatly! ❤️

Here is what we have been up to this spring at Forest School. Exploring, climbing, insect hunting, whittling, eating s’mores and so much more. Today we brought our Forest School year to a close. Another year of great memories and amazing weather, although more snow would have been fun. The end of the year is always bitter sweet. We look forward to some returning students, new adventurers and we wish our soon-to-be kinders well. 👋🥰

Ok I seriously want a baby goat. 😍🐐

Goats and flowers! What a great field trip we had on Friday to Katies Kountry Garden. We got to plant our own flowers, tour the greenhouse to see all the amazing and beautiful flowers. We also got to use our magnifying glasses to hunt for praying mantis’s and lady bugs who work hard to keep out the bugs that destroy the flowers.

The animals were definitely the fan favorite of the kids. 🐓🐴🐐❤️

What a great way to start our last unit of the year on plants. We’re winding down but still having lots of fun learning and exploring through each lesson.

Thank you Vicki Stafford Parke , Jordin Parke and Grandma Marilyn for letting us come out. We greatly appreciate your hospitality. 💐

In April we visited Wyoming Steel & Recycling Iron & Metals, Inc. Services for our unit on recycling. We loved learning about what we can and can’t recycle. The kids Oooed and awed through our tour. Who knew trash could be so cool?

Thanks again families for your amazing support and showing up for our field trip days. We love our Discovery Depot families! 🫶🏼

Today we took a walking field trip to Jonah Bank. It’s all about money this month so it’s perfect we’re so close to a bank and we have great connections.

We got to see a vault where all the money is kept, reviewed the value of each coin, saw the ATM and night deposit. The fan favorite was definitely the drive up window. We got to send the tubes through the tunnel and got suckers back. Each student got a turn to be a receiver and giver at the teller line. So much fun!

Big THANK YOU to our long standing friends and staff at Jonah Bank. We love our visit every time we come!

What a beautiful Aprilruary we are having. We even dusted off the sunscreen today. The wind was finally calm enough to build a fire and bake cinnamon rolls. While Ms. Heidi perfected her campfire baking skills, we created a little outdoor art piece with random tools like a fly swatter, spatula, squeegee and a bubble wand and paint. I got a face full of splatter. Just a victim of creativity. There was a baking contest in the mud kitchen and lots of role playing going on. It was such an amazing Forest School day. ☀️🙌🏼

Finding the letter “P” in our big books was a fun way to explore letter recognition today. They even found lowercase “p”. I am super impressed with the growth of these 3/4 year olds.

A little unintentional preschool humor during our lesson:

Me: Let me know when you find a “P”.
All shouting and pointing at their books.
Me: Raise a quiet hand if you got one.
Student: Shouts with hands raised, I gotta P.
Me: Where?
Student: In the bathroom.
Me: Oh yes! Go. 🤦🏻‍♀️👉🚽

😂😂😂 It’s never dull around here.

Added few other fun pictures of our center time. Books, blocks and other fun ways to enjoy our free play.

What a great way to burn off that Full Moon energy (it’s a real thing 🌕). We made bird feeders last week and got to investigate them today. The one in our shed had a critter clue 🦝 and we don’t think it was a bird who had a snack. The beautiful weather created a great opportunity for us to see a handful of birds. We saw black capped chickadees, a woodpecker, a bald eagle, some Canadian geese and some mallard ducks. We got to use our binoculars and field guides to identify all we saw. We gave it all we could to wear out these explores but I don’t think we were successful. Bird watching and the ongoing game of playing chase was just too exciting today.

This is how we rolled out of January. Sunshine, being still and adding another entry into our nature journal. It’s an important part of our Forest School routine that the kids have come to appreciate and enjoy.

“Hey Teacher! Can you hold my fishing pole, sword, laser, magic wand, power finder, portal protector, hunting rifle, bow, Pokemon locator….and don’t let anyone take it!”

It’s never just a stick. ❤️
