🐾 RUSH at CJHS! 🎉

This week, our high school students had the chance to RUSH into the many opportunities available at Carl Junction High School! Students explored different clubs and organizations, met the people behind them, and learned how they can get involved beyond the classroom.

From activities and athletics to service organizations and everything in between, there’s a place for everyone to find their people, discover their passions, and make their mark at CJHS! ❤️🤍

We love seeing our Bulldogs get involved and make the most of their high school experience!

🚌 Prepared. Practice. Protect.

Throughout the first few weeks of school, our students and staff take time to review and practice procedures for a variety of emergency situations. These drills are an important part of making sure everyone knows what to do and where to go when it matters most.

Yesterday, our Transportation Department worked with students on bus evacuation procedures, giving students an opportunity to practice how to safely and quickly exit a bus in an emergency.

While we hope these procedures are never needed, practicing them helps build confidence, familiarity, and preparedness. We appreciate our transportation team for making safety a priority and helping our students know what to do if an unexpected situation occurs.

🍎🥕 TRY IT TUESDAY CHALLENGE! 🥦🍓

Back to school means back to healthy habits! We’re challenging our CJ students and families to TRY a local fruit or vegetable and make the recipe featured on our monthly menu together. 👩‍🍳👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

Here’s how to participate:
1️⃣ Make It: Prepare the featured recipe with your family.
2️⃣ Snap It: Take a picture of your meal or your family cooking together.
3️⃣ Email It: Send your photo to [email protected]
4️⃣ Win It: Each month, one family will win a $10 voucher to the Carl Junction Farmers Market! 🎉

🎉 What a way to wrap up Week 1! 🐾

Yesterday, we celebrated the first week of school with a Back-to-School Assembly at the high school! It was so much fun seeing all those smiling faces as we got back to some good old-fashioned fun with Rock, Paper, Scissors ✊✋✌️ and Musical Chairs 🎶🪑!

After a GREAT first week of school, we couldn’t think of a better way to head into the weekend!

🧠🔬 Critical Thinking in Action at CJ Junior High!

Our Junior High students are already getting hands-on with one of the key skills in our Portrait of a Graduate: Critical Thinking!

🔬 In Science, students put their creativity and problem-solving skills to work as they used spaghetti to build towers—testing ideas, learning from what worked (and what didn’t!), and thinking critically along the way.

🍦 In PLTW, students explored Applied Science by making their own homemade ice cream! They got to see science in action while learning how scientific concepts can be applied to real-world experiences.

We love seeing our students think, create, experiment, and learn by doing! That’s what Bulldog learning is all about!

🏫 THROWBACK THURSDAY! 🏫

Before our current schools, technology-filled classrooms, and Bulldog traditions we know today, Carl Junction’s school story began right here!

📸 This is Carl Junction’s first school building, built in 1887 near the intersection of Miller Street and Locust Street. The building featured two rooms upstairs and two rooms downstairs.

Nearly 140 years later, we know there are generations of Bulldogs with memories of classrooms, teachers, friends, ballgames, concerts, field trips, and so much more. ❤️🤍
