Recently, the Brazos County Sheriff’s Office held our annual awards ceremony, where we had the opportunity to recognize some of the incredible men and women who serve our community. Over the next several days, we look forward to sharing some of their achievements with you.

We are incredibly proud of our staff and the dedication, compassion, and professionalism they demonstrate each day.

Today, we are proud to recognize Corporal Nathan Ziebell and Officer Jordan Wren for their actions that helped save a life at the Brazos County Detention Center.

When Corporal Ziebell and Officer Wren received information that an inmate was attempting to harm himself, they immediately responded to provide assistance. Through their quick actions and teamwork, they were able to intervene and help save the individual's life, ensuring he received the medical attention he needed.

Their quick thinking, teamwork, and willingness to act without hesitation were instrumental in preventing a tragic outcome.

Moments like these remind us that the work our staff does goes far beyond their daily responsibilities. At the heart of what we do is a commitment to protecting and preserving life.

The Brazos County Sheriff’s Office is proud to support Purple Night at the Brazos Valley Fair & Rodeo and the Man Up Crusade!

Domestic violence impacts far too many families in our community. Tonight is an opportunity to stand with survivors, honor those affected, and remind anyone experiencing abuse that they are not alone.

We encourage everyone attending tonight’s fair to WEAR PURPLE and help us spread awareness! 💜

Proceeds from tonight’s buckle raffle will benefit Twin City Mission’s Phoebe’s Home, helping provide support and hope to those affected by domestic violence right here in our community.

In 2025, more than 240,000 family violence offenses were reported in Texas. Behind every one of those numbers are individuals and families whose lives have been impacted by domestic violence.

This Sunday, October 25, the Brazos County Sheriff’s Office is proud to join the Man Up Crusade, Brazos Valley Fair & Rodeo, and Twin City Mission for Purple Night at the Fair!

💜 We invite our community to wear purple, bring your family, and join us for an evening of raising awareness, supporting survivors, and standing together against domestic violence.

Funds raised will benefit Twin City Mission, which provides vital services to survivors right here in the Brazos Valley.

Let’s fill the fairgrounds with purple and send a powerful message: Survivors are not alone, and our community stands with them! 💜

🎄 Brazos County Sheriff’s Office Adopt-A-Family Program ❤️

The holiday season should be a time of joy, hope, and togetherness, but we know that this time of year can also bring challenges for families in our community.

The Brazos County Sheriff’s Office is now accepting applications for our 2026 Adopt-A-Family Program. Through this program, selected families will receive Christmas gifts for their children, along with a full Christmas dinner to help make the holiday season a little brighter.

If you or someone you know has faced difficult times this year, we encourage you to apply or share this information with a family who may benefit. Sometimes, simply knowing that someone cares can make all the difference.

Applications will be reviewed, and families will be selected during the second week of November. The number of families selected will depend on the number of children in each nominated family.

𝐉𝐨𝐢𝐧 𝐔𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐎𝐮𝐫 𝐍𝐞𝐰𝐥𝐲 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐃𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐥𝐬!

The Brazos County Sheriff’s Office is proud to announce the promotions of Robert Robinson, Logan Medeiros, and Michael Fisher to the rank of Detention Corporal!

𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐑𝐨𝐛𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐨𝐧 has served with the Sheriff’s Office since October 2023. During his tenure, he has served in the Special Housing Unit, where he has demonstrated leadership and a commitment to his team. His accomplishments include being named Special Housing Unit Star Employee in July 2024, selected as BCSO Officer of the Month in January 2026, and selected to attend the TEEX Police Academy.

𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐌𝐞𝐝𝐞𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐬 joined the Sheriff’s Office in November 2021 and has served as a Jail Floor Officer, Booking Officer, and currently as the B-Shift Booking Magistrate Officer. He is also a member of the Detention Response Team and was named the 2025 Officer of the Year. His dedication to mentoring and training new officers reflects his commitment to the team and the agency.

𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐅𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐞𝐫 first joined the Sheriff’s Office in January 2024 and returned in March 2026 after serving with the Ellis County Sheriff’s Office. He currently serves in the Special Housing Unit and supports the development of new employees through his work as a Field Training Officer.

Please join us in congratulating Corporals Robinson, Medeiros, and Fisher on this well-deserved achievement! Their dedication, leadership, and commitment to service are valued contributions to the Brazos County Sheriff’s Office.

Even more meaningful, money raised that evening will benefit Twin City Mission, an organization that provides vital local resources and support to survivors of domestic violence right here in the Brazos Valley.

At the Brazos County Sheriff’s Office, we stand with survivors, honor the courage it takes to seek help, and remember those whose lives have been lost to domestic violence.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and today is a reminder that behind every statistic is a real person, a family, and a story that matters.

We are excited to announce that the Brazos County Sheriff’s Office is partnering with the Brazos Valley Fair & Rodeo, Twin City Mission, and the Man Up Crusade for Purple Night at the Fair on Sunday, October 25! 💜

This special night is about bringing our community together to raise awareness, support survivors, and remind those experiencing domestic violence that they are not alone.

Twin City Mission provides free domestic violence services throughout all seven Brazos Valley counties, including counseling, safety planning, legal advocacy, and emergency shelter for those who need it.

💜 Wear purple to show your support for survivors and remind them they are not alone.

Brazos County Sheriff’s Office Provides Update on Ongoing Investigation

Brazos County, Texas – The Brazos County Sheriff’s Office is providing an update to the community regarding the ongoing investigation that resulted in the September 23, 2026, arrest of Gerardo Gonzalez, 22, of College Station.

The investigation began after the Sheriff’s Office received a CyberTip regarding videos reported to potentially contain child po*******hy. Investigators worked to identify the individual associated with the videos and, on September 23, obtained warrants and arrested Gonzalez.

Since the initial arrest, deputies with the Sheriff’s Office Special Investigative Unit have continued working the case and gathering additional information. As a result of that continued investigation, an additional warrant has been obtained charging Gonzalez with: Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Young Child: Victim Under 14 (First Degree Felony).

Gonzalez remains in the Brazos County Jail.

Investigators have no information that any of the offenses under investigation were related to Gonzalez’s former employment at CSISD.

Good news, Brazos County! This morning, Judge Duane Peters signed an order lifting the county burn ban, effective immediately.

While we’re glad to see the burn ban lifted, we still encourage everyone to use caution and practice safe burning. Before starting any outdoor fire, make sure you have plenty of water nearby, keep fires away from structures and anything that could easily catch fire, and never leave a fire unattended. Always make sure your fire is completely out before leaving the area.

Brazos County Sheriff’s Office Investigating Fatal Shooting
October 1, 2026

The Brazos County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a female who was located Wednesday night at a residence in northern Brazos County.

Just after 9 p.m., deputies were dispatched to a residence in the 6400 block of Trace Bend in response to a welfare concern. When deputies arrived, they located a deceased female who had suffered a gunshot wound.

The victim has been identified as Veronica Tussey-Taylor, 59, a Brazos County resident.

During the investigation, investigators determined that the victim’s vehicle was missing from the residence and developed a suspect in the case. Investigators utilized automated license plate reader technology, including Flock cameras, to determine that the victim’s vehicle had left Brazos County and was in the Houston area.

Brazos County Sheriff’s Office deputies continued their investigation and obtained information indicating that the victim’s vehicle may be located at a property in northern Harris County. Brazos County deputies began responding to the property to assist with locating the vehicle. During this time, a Texas Department of Public Safety helicopter located the vehicle on the property.

Shortly later Brazos County deputies arrived in the area in an unmarked vehicle to provide surveillance while Harris County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the property. Before deputies entered the property, the suspect took his own life using a fi***rm. Upon locating the suspect, he was confirmed to be deceased.

The male subject has been identified as John Goodwin, 54, a College Station resident.
The victim and the male subject were known to each other.

The investigation remains ongoing, and investigators from the Brazos County Sheriff’s Office continue to work with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, the Texas Department of Public Safety, and other law enforcement agencies involved in the investigation. We want to thank these agencies with their assistance in this investigation.

Our thoughts are with the victim’s family, and everyone affected by this tragic incident.
