Throwback Thursday, Bryan ISD Athletics Addition!

As we count down to the Bryan High School vs. Rudder High School football game next month, Bryan ISD Athletics is going way into the vault to spotlight some of the legendary football players who got their start right here in Bryan ISD and went on to make their mark at the highest levels of the game.

Next up: Gerald Carter

Gerald Carter was a 1976 graduate of Bryan High School who went on to play football at Texas A&M University from 1978–1979. After his time as an Aggie, Gerald was selected in the 9th round of the NFL Draft and began his professional career with the New York Jets before spending seven seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 1980–1987.

Gerald is another outstanding example of a Bryan ISD student-athlete who took the lessons learned on the field and carried them to the next level. We are proud to celebrate his accomplishments and the legacy he continues to represent in Bryan ISD!

The Aggie legend is set to host his third annual charity golf tournament, all in the name of giving back to the community that shaped him. ✨ Board Member Spotlight ✨

This week, we’re proud to highlight Logan Kendrick!

Logan’s connection to the Club began through Woody, who has served as Treasurer for the past 30 years. After seeing his longtime involvement with the organization, Logan knew the Club was something he hoped to be part of one day as well.

When asked why he chooses to invest his time in our mission, Logan shared: “Kids have been and will always be the future of our country. Any investment in them is worth it!” And for anyone considering supporting the Club, Logan’s advice is simple: “You have to see it to believe it. Come and see the Club and you’ll understand why it’s worthwhile to support!”

Thank you, Logan, for continuing a special legacy of service and for investing your time and talents in the future of our Club kids! 💙

✨ Board Member Spotlight ✨

This week, we’re proud to highlight Bret Richards!

Bret’s connection to the Club began through our Legends & Lettermen Golf Tournament, where he served for several years as our auctioneer. After getting to know the organization and receiving encouragement from fellow Board members, Bret knew he wanted to play a bigger role in the work being done for local youth.

When asked what he would say to someone considering supporting the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Brazos Valley, Bret shared: “Every contribution helps us provide a safe, stabilizing structure for these kids to achieve peak value in their own lives. If not us, who? If not now, when? Giving kids an opportunity, and seeing them seize it, is a special thing to witness and be a part of.”

From Club kid to two-time NBA Champion! 🏆💙

A huge thank you to Alex Caruso, former Club member, Texas A&M Aggie, and two-time NBA Champion for spending meaningful time with our kids. From sharing your journey and leading a basketball clinic, to treating everyone to Chicken Oil, you showed our members that hard work, perseverance, and believing in yourself can open doors you never thought possible.

Thank you for your incredible $25,000 investment in our mission and, more importantly, for investing in the lives of our kids. Your generosity is creating opportunities for the next generation of dreamers.
