⚠️ Montgomery County has issued a Code Red Air Quality Action Day for Thursday, July 16.

A Code Red Air Quality Action Day means air quality is unhealthy for everyone due to elevated levels of fine particulate matter (PM2.5) from wildfire smoke. Children, older adults, and people with heart or lung conditions are especially at risk.

Please take steps to stay safe:
☑️ Limit time outdoors, especially strenuous activity
☑️ Keep outdoor activities short
☑️ Take more frequent breaks if you must be outside
☑️ Check on neighbors, especially older adults
☑️ Monitor air quality before heading outdoors

Help reduce air pollution by:
☑️ Limiting fire pit use
☑️ Reducing vehicle trips and avoiding engine idling
☑️ Refueling vehicles after dusk
☑️ Conserving electricity

Check current air quality at https://www.airnow.gov/ or on the AirNow app.

🚨 If you experience severe shortness of breath or chest tightness, call 911 or seek emergency medical care immediately.

Our Fire Academy’s Fall 2026 schedule is now available! Check it out online at https://www.montgomerycountypa.gov/departments/department-public-safety/fire-academy/fire-academy-training-schedule

This semester’s schedule includes:

- 53 offerings of 46 unique courses
- 11 classes that can be completed fully online
- 11 classes that can be completed on one weeknight (2-4 hours)
- 11 classes that can be completed in one weekend (8-16 hours)
- Two offerings of both new Entry Level modules (Entry Level Fireground Support and EL26 Firefighter I)
- Two offsite courses: Firefighter II at Ringing Hill Fire Company and Fire Officer I at Upper Frederick Fire Company
