Have you ever been to Papa Jack's Country Kitchen? 🥞
If you have, you know that it's a special place to be. When you walk in through those doors, you're greeted with the smell of delicious southern comfort food and hometown hospitality.
But have you heard the story of the owner, Bill Mays?
Every Saturday morning as a kid, Bill Mays could be found in the kitchen instead of in front of the TV. While other children were watching cartoons, Bill was cooking bacon, eggs, and fluffy pancakes, unknowingly laying the foundation for a lifelong passion.
That passion led him through years as an employee in the restaurant industry, followed by an adventure in restaurant ownership and countless lessons learned along the way. In 2005, Bill took a chance on a growing town and opened Papa Jack’s Country Kitchen in Braselton. At the time, the busy intersection where the restaurant sat looked very different, and many people questioned the decision. More than 20 years later, Bill is still here, but in a space over twice the size of his first spot in town. The community that embraced him also remains.
What started as a simple restaurant has become a beloved gathering place. Families return year after year, children grow up and bring their own children through the doors, and customers have become friends and family. For Bill, the people have always been the best part of the journey.
As Braselton continues to grow, Papa Jack’s remains a reminder of the southern hospitality and community spirit that make our town special. Thank you, Bill, for your dedication, your stories, and the countless meals that have brought people together around your tables.
