The Eastern Local School District was officially formed on October 5, 1959 by a vote of the Pike County Board of Education. The district was a consolidation of the Beaver, Stockdale, and Union Local School Districts. Most of the district is located in Pike County with portions extending into both Jackson and Scioto counties. The newly formed Eastern district built a new high school near the intersection of Tile Mill Road and Beaver Pike. The district, for many years, utilized the Beaver and Stockdale buildings for the K-8 grades, and the new high school for grades 9-12. In 1997, voters approved a bond issue to fund the local portion of a state-sponsored project that resulted in the construction of the current facility. That facility, which houses all grades, opened in 2002, and is also located on the Tile Mill property. Upon completion of the new K-12 facility, the Beaver and Stockdale buildings were not razed. Those buildings, no longer owned by the district, served their respective communities in a variety of non-school capacities. Currently, the district serves over 930 students, including a portion of the juniors and seniors who attend the Pike County Career Technology Center. The district employs over 120 staff members, including administrators, teachers, and support personnel such as custodians, cooks, bus drivers, secretaries, and aides.

Eastern High School will host Lucas High School on Friday, October 30, in the first round of the OHSAA football playoffs. Kickoff will be at 7:00 p.m. Gates will open at 5:30 p.m.

Because high school football playoffs are OHSAA events, please note the following regulations and procedures that will be in place for this Friday's home football playoff game:

Only school, media, and team personnel will be permitted to enter the athletic complex prior to 5:30 p.m.

Only players and credentialed personnel will be permitted inside the fence surrounding the track and playing field.

Animals, personal footballs or other balls, air horns and powered noisemakers are not permitted at playoff games.

Vendors and fundraisers are not permitted during playoff games. Only concessions and school 50/50 fundraisers are permitted.

Tickets:
All individuals attending the game, including students (grades K-12), must have a ticket purchased from the OHSAA website or at the gate.

All pre-sale and day-of-game tickets will be $12 for adults and $5 for students. (Student tickets will not be available online until 90 minutes prior to gates opening). All playoff ticket prices are determined by OHSAA. Cash will be accepted at the gate.

Congratulations to the varsity cross country team on their performance at the district championship today!

The varsity boys team qualified for regionals for the third consecutive year and Hadley Wallace qualified individually.

Hadley finished 18th overall in the girls race and Dawson Cody finished 11th overall in the boys race, both earning All-District honors.

Congratulations and good luck at regionals!
