2026 Dog Tag Run. 🐾

Members of Bay Shore–Brightwaters Rescue Ambulance were proud to provide standby coverage for the Dog Tag Run in Bay Shore. The event featured a 2.2-mile run- ruck- walk- dog walk in support of Operation VEST (Veterans Ending Su***de Together), which provides critical support, advocacy, and resources for veterans and first responders and local veteran support organization. All funds raised in the Dog Division went to Paws of War, a LI organization organized to help both veterans and animals. Their slogan is ‘helping both ends of the leash.’

Thanks to our crews who spent this AM ensuring the safety of all participants- A hot start to the day but a great community event supporting an important cause!

CPR and AED Awareness Week | June 1–7

Each year, more than 350,000 EMS-assessed out-of-hospital cardiac arrests occur in the United States. When a person has a cardiac arrest, survival depends on immediately receiving CPR from someone nearby. According to the American Heart Association, about 90 percent of people who suffer out-of-hospital cardiac arrests die. CPR, especially if performed immediately, can double or triple a cardiac arrest victim’s chance of survival.

Last night we honored Board of Director Jon Michel at the 2026 Suffolk County Legislature’s EMS Recognition.

As a lifelong residence of West Bay Shore, Director Jon Michel began his distinguished service with the Bay Shore–Brightwaters Rescue Ambulance in September 2004 as a member of its Youth Squad, marking the start of what is now 21 years of dedicated service to the community. His early commitment to volunteerism has remained steadfast throughout his tenure, reflecting a deep and enduring dedication to the residents of Bay Shore and Brightwaters.

Director Michel is a graduate of Worcester Polytechnic Institute, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. He has since built a successful professional career in the technology sector and currently serves with Motorola, bringing a high level of technical expertise and innovation to his work.
In his current capacity as a member of the Board of Directors, Director Michel is entrusted with the oversight and management of critical building and vehicle initiatives, ensuring the organization’s infrastructure remains modern, efficient, and capable of meeting the evolving needs of the community.

Most notably, Director Michel played an instrumental leadership role in the Islip Township EMS Communications Project, hosted by the Brentwood Legion Ambulance. Serving as the organization’s representative, he successfully directed and executed BSBRA’s assigned responsibilities. Leveraging his extensive technical background and professional experience, he was pivotal in the development and implementation of a robust and reliable communications infrastructure, significantly enhancing operational coordination and helping to ensure the safety and effectiveness of emergency response services.

Director Michel’s continued dedication, leadership, and professional excellence exemplify the highest standards of service and reflect great credit upon both himself and the Bay Shore–Brightwaters Rescue Ambulance. Congratulations!
