On behalf of Appling County Emergency Management Agency:

THANK YOU to all first responders for what you do, for standing beside us, for walking with us, for answering the call, and showing up to respond to the call.

We appreciate our partners and honor our firefighters, law enforcement officers, EMTs, 911 operators, and others who always put others first to keep our community safe.

We’ve talked about go bags A LOT over this hurricane season. We do that because they’re important.

First responders and other public safety officials use go bags year round. They may change or grow and you can’t carry everything, but you can keep enough on you to be ready to establish response.

How does this matter to the community?

Because YOU should keep one, too!

When someone goes missing, what does a community do? We HELP!

When there’s a disaster and our neighbors need a hand, what does a community do? We HELP!

It’s in our nature to look out for each other. But we have to lookout for ourselves first and the easiest way to do that is to be prepared.

When the stewardess is doing the safety briefing on an airplane, who’s mask do you put on first? YOUR OWN.

Having things to keep yourself safe is the first step to helping others. Having some of the items in this infographic can go a long way when minutes matter.

ACEMA was more than excited for the invitation to participate in this year’s Halloween festivities at the Sheriff’s Office! Come see us!

Entry is fee but cash donations will be accepted for the Christmas program to provide Christmas to local families in need!

Come see us tomorrow!

The haunted house is completely free, but monetary donations can be made to benefit our Adopt-A-Family Christmas program. We will have a drop box for donations.

The first rooms are kid friendly with an alternative exit so the littles do not have to go through the scary part!

Happy Friday, Appling County!

Here with our weekend outlook and, maaaaan, is it a good one! On Saturday, we’re looking at a high of 73, low of 58. Sunday, high of 66, low of 50!

This is a very strong cold front coming through and while, luckily, it isn’t bringing rain with it, it will bring some gusty winds!

All in all, happy opening weekend to those who celebrate. The Dawgs play Auburn tomorrow at 3:30. And remember, you don’t have to set your entire yard on fire to roast a marshmallow.

Enjoy your weekend, Appling County!

(And go Dawgs!)
