That's our team at the finish of the TPCA Run to Remember — a 5K along Shoreline in Corpus Christi that raises money for the families of Texas officers killed in the line of duty.

We sell trucks to police departments. Most of our days are spec sheets, lead times and budget cycles, and it's easy to let the work stay that abstract.

An evening like this doesn't let you. You line up on the bay with chiefs, officers and their families, and the reason everyone came is standing right next to you.

To our fleet team — thank you for showing up and putting in the miles. And thank you to TPCA for putting it on.

Two agencies. Same truck. Two completely different budget conversations.

Lease-purchase, and you end up owning it. The first payment can be deferred, and at the end the unit is yours. That's the right call when the capital line is thin this year but the operating line is steady, and when you intend to run that truck for a decade.

A spec sheet can't tell you where the console lands when you're wearing a duty belt.
