What a spook-tacular morning at the library!

Today's storytime was crawling with costumes, cute kiddos, parents, and librarians! Julie treated the whole gang to some Halloween stories before Trista, Jen, and Diane rounded up the little ghouls and goblins for a Halloween adventure around town. Our trick-or-treaters made stops at the courthouse, sheriff's office, and post office before heading back to the library.

Meanwhile, Christie held down the fort at the library, helping the wonderful community members who stopped by while the crew was out and about.

Of course, no Halloween adventure would be complete without goodies! Every little trick-or-treater went home with candy and fun trinkets. Smiles, costumes, stories, and treats made for one boo-tiful morning!

ONE MORE HALLOWEEN REMINDER!

Join the Basin Rec Center for their Trunk or Treat on Saturday, Oct 31, from 6–8 PM in the Town of Basin parking lot (919 W. B St.). Your library friends will be there handing out treats, too!

We can't wait to see all your little monsters! Have a safe and happy Halloween!

New book spotlight!

What's new at the library today? We're so excited about the entire series of "Over and Under" and "Up and Down" books written by Kate Messner with art by Christopher Silas Neal.

Here’s how it all began: A few months ago, one of our wonderful patrons noticed we had "Over and Under the Rainforest" but were missing the rest of the collection. That got us curious! After a little research (and some borrowing from our library friends), we knew we had to bring the whole series to our shelves. And now… we did!

You can find all these wonderful books on the "New Books" shelf in the Children’s Area, ready for your next reading adventure.

From fascinating nature discoveries to gorgeous illustrations, these books are full of things to explore, notice, and fall in love with. We think you’ll love them as much as we do!

Stop by, pick one up, and see what adventures are waiting over, under, up, and down!

Our November calendar is ready! You can pick up a printed copy from the library, or save it from this Facebook post or our website.

Some things to note:
- Speed Puzzle Content! Come to the library on Thursday, November 12 during business hours and put together a 100-piece puzzle as fast as you can. We will time you! The times will be compared with puzzlers from Greybull and Lovell libraries, and then the top 3 will complete against Cody and Powell in January.

- Due to Thanksgiving week coming up, book club is rescheduled for the first week in December. Meet at the library as usual at 3pm on Wednesday, Dec 2. We are reading "Being Santa Claus: What I Learned About the True Meaning of Christmas."

- The Town of Basin's annual Home for the Holidays is Saturday, November 28, and the library will be open from 5-8pm with warm beverages, snacks, and crafts! We invite community members to come on in, get warm, and enjoy each other's company!

What a FUN FRIDAY! Both Story Time groups made their own masks, just in time for Halloween.
After an interactive story with Ms. Julie, the younger kids let their imagination run wild. Their foam masks had unicorn horns, kitty ears, lightning bolts, and sequins.
Ms. Trista read to the older Story Time kids before they got to work on their paper mache masks. They used a variety of materials and mediums to create their masterpieces.
LIE Beyond the Bell students visited us again today. They did a short art project before picking out STEAM activities or reading. Big thank you to Ms. Nova for bringing them down when weather permits.
Lego Club worked in pairs as they built pumpkin/corn marble mazes. We love their creativity!
Libraries are more than just books, it's a place where community comes together.

Storytime Friday = Spooky Stories, Creative Crafts & LOTS of FUN!

What a boo-tiful day at the library! We filled our Friday with fantastic stories, hands-on crafts, and plenty of Halloween magic!

Our little bookworms got into the Halloween spirit with:
- Black Cat Creeping
- Pumpkin Trouble
- The Spooky Wheels on the Bus

Our big kids enjoyed a fun mix of spooky surprises, adventure, and fairy-tale twists with:
- Pop-up Haunted House
- The Tale of the Valiant Ninja Frog
- The Prince and the Witch and the Thief and the Bears

Craft Time: Little Hands, BIG Creativity!

Our littles created the cutest jack-o'-lanterns using construction paper. They were all smiles as their pumpkins came to life!

Meanwhile, the older group got a little POP of excitement with homemade Pumpkin Poppers! Using toilet paper rolls, pom-poms, and balloons, they created their own launchers. Decorate the cylinder, fill it with pom-poms, attach a balloon to one end, pull back, and POP! Pom-poms EVERYWHERE! (Our apologies in advance to the moms who find colorful pom-poms in mysterious places for the next several days.)

Later in the day, we welcomed our friends from Beyond the Bell, and things got extra crafty! We blinged out pumpkins, bats, and ghosts using all sorts of fun supplies, including sequins, googly eyes, little stones, pom-poms, markers, and MORE! The creativity was shining, the decorations were adorable, and everyone had a spooktacular time!

Fridays are ALWAYS Fun Days at the library!

We love bringing people together through stories, creativity, laughter, and a little bit of Halloween mischief! Whether you're one of our amazing kiddos, an adult from our school system, or a member of our wonderful community, we're so happy you're here.

Thank you for bringing your smiles, creativity, and good energy to every library visit! You make our library a special place to learn, laugh, and grow together.

Until next time, keep reading, keep creating, and keep spreading a little library magic!

Friday, Oct 16 is WYOMING SNAPSHOT DAY!

Wyoming Snapshot Day is an annual online celebration of libraries across the state. It’s our chance to show off all the amazing ways libraries make a difference in our communities — and we want YOU to be part of it!

Stop by the library anytime before Friday at 5 PM to fill out a comment sheet telling us why your library is important to you.

Want to be part of the picture? We’d love to include you and/or your family! Just fill out a quick photo release form, and your photo may be shared by the Wyoming State Library, too.

We can’t wait to show the rest of Wyoming what makes our library and community so wonderful!

Come share your story, strike a pose, and help us celebrate the magic of libraries!

Storytime Friday!

For the littles, Miss Julie read:
- Animals in the Fall
- It's Fall!
- Scarecrow

We then had a super fun "over and under" craft. See the photos to see the cool creations of weaving strips of construction paper over and under each other!

For the big kids, Miss Christie read "Sophie's Squash," which made us all laugh! We then chose different pumpkins from our crafty pumpkin patch and decorated them in many different ways! The kids got to take home at least one of their decorated pumpkins, and the other pumpkins will be added to our fall bulletin board. So cute!

As a special treat, Jade read us a cute story that she wrote and illustrated. We loved it!

For this afternoon's STEAM club, we had fun with the marble game, magnet activities, and robot activities. We also colored some plastic spiders just for fun.

As always, we love reading to and doing activities with the kids in our community!

The library will be closed Monday, October 12, in honor of Indigenous Peoples' Day.

STORYTIME FRIDAY!!

Oh, how we love fall at the library!

Today, Miss Julie read THREE books to the littles!
- "How to help a pumpkin grow" by Ashley Wolff
- "The busy little squirrel" by Nancy Tafuri
- "Fall leaves fall!" by Zoe Hall

For the elementary kiddos, Miss Trista read "Fletcher and the falling leaves" by Julia Rawlinson.

For crafts, the littles did marble painting on cutouts of colorful fall leaves. The elementary kids colored and painted leaves that had been cut out of book pages. All of the leaves turned out so pretty and so diverse! The leaves will be added to our library bulletin board for everyone to enjoy.

We love seeing so many wonderful children, parents, guardians, grandparents, and community members here on Fridays!
