🧡 ONE SCHOOL. ONE HEART. ONE MESSAGE: UNITY! 🧡

On October 21, Garrett Heights Elementary Middle School came together to celebrate Unity Day, taking a powerful stand against bullying! Dressed in orange, our GHEMS Lions took to the field, joining hands to form one giant heart as a symbol of love, kindness, acceptance, and inclusion. ❤️ Our message was simple: When we lead with our hearts, there's no room for bullying! From our youngest Lions to our oldest students, we demonstrated that unity isn't just something we talk about—it's something we put into action. Every student helped shape that heart, reminding us that everyone belongs, everyone matters, and everyone deserves to feel safe and respected. At GHEMS, we don't just wear orange for a day—we carry kindness in our hearts every day!

🦁💙💛 HAPPY NATIONAL PRINCIPALS MONTH! 💛💙🦁

Celebrating Our Amazing Leader, Principal Matthews-Traynham!

October is National Principals Month, and the Garrett Heights Elementary Middle School community is proud to celebrate our very own Mrs. Matthews-Traynham!

Great schools are built on strong leadership, meaningful relationships, and a shared commitment to student success. At GHEMS, Principal Matthews-Traynham leads with heart, determination, and an unwavering belief in the potential of every scholar.

Whether she's supporting teachers, encouraging students, connecting with families, or rolling up her sleeves to get things done, her commitment to our school community goes far beyond the principal's office.

Leadership isn't just about being in charge. It's about showing up, lifting others, and creating opportunities for everyone to succeed.

Mrs. Matthews-Traynham, thank you for your dedication, compassion, resilience, and the countless ways you help make GHEMS a place where students can learn, grow, and thrive.

GHEMS Family, help us show our principal some LOVE! Drop a message of appreciation in the comments and let her know how much her leadership means to our school community! 💙💛

Stronger Students. Stronger Families. Stronger Together.

The Garrett Heights Elementary Middle School community proudly celebrates our amazing custodial team on Custodians Day.

Our custodians do far more than clean classrooms and hallways. They help create a school environment that is safe, welcoming, organized, and ready for learning every single day. Their work often happens before students arrive, after families leave, and behind the scenes throughout the school day.

From maintaining our building to responding when something needs immediate attention, our custodial team plays an essential role in the success of GHEMS. Their dedication supports our students, staff, families, and the entire school community.

On behalf of the Friends of GHEMS and the GHEMS School Community, we say thank you for your hard work, consistency, pride, and commitment to Garrett Heights.

Happy Custodians Day! We see you, we appreciate you, and we are grateful for everything you do to keep GHEMS shining.

Garrett Heights Elementary Middle School is proud to celebrate our outstanding September Students of the Month!

These scholars were selected for demonstrating the qualities we want to see throughout the GHEMS community — hard work, positive behavior, responsibility, leadership, and a commitment to learning. Their recognition reflects the effort they bring to school each day and the example they set for their classmates.

This month brings an extra special reason to celebrate. Sibling Sisters were both selected as Students of the Month for September! Having two scholars from the same family earn this recognition at the same time is a powerful reflection of consistency, effort, and family support.

We congratulate our Super Siblings, and all of our September honorees. Keep leading, keep learning, and keep showing what it means to represent GHEMS with pride.

Congratulations, Scholars! The entire GHEMS community is proud of you!
