The Tunbridge School

The Tunbridge School is operated by Afya Baltimore Inc. (ABI) and is part of BCPSS. The school was founded in 2010 and is operated by Afya Baltimore Inc.

The Tunbridge School is an elementary/middle school in Govans, serving students in pre-k through 8th grade. (ABI), which also operates The Belair-Edison School. “Afya” is a Swahili word for health. At Tunbridge and all of the ABI schools, we focus on the intellectual, physical and social health of our students.

Fourth quarter has been full of field trips. Our kindergarteners explored Cylburn Arboretum, our seventh graders visited Guppy Gultch, and Ms. Embry and Mr. Solliday’s students hiked around Oregon Ridge. We love seeing our students take their learning outside of the classroom!

This week has been spent celebrating students moving into different grades. Our Prek, K, and 5th graders all celebrated moving onto the next step in their educational careers. We are so proud of all they have accomplished this year and can’t wait to continue to watch them grow in the future!

The end of the school year is full of celebrations! Last week was spent celebrating our eldest owls. Our 8th graders traveled to New York City, competed in their final Family Olympics, had one final dance, and concluded the celebration with a closing ceremony. We will miss this group tremendously but know they are ready to take care of themselves, spaces and others as they head off to high school!

This weekend our girls volleyball showed up and showed out winning 2nd place in their tournament. They worked hard, encouraged each other, and played their hearts out. Way to go girls!

Today our 7th graders participated in the annual walk-a-thon. Each year our 7th graders research charities, present them to their class, and agree on one to be the recipient of their fundraising efforts.

As of today they have raised over $1,000 that will be donated to Camp Opportunity. This organization provides overnight camp experiences for children ages 8-11 who have experienced abuse or neglect.

We are so proud of how our students are working to give back to our community!

We could not have asked for a more perfect day for Family Olympics 2026! We marched, ran, scootered, raced, face painted, laughed, and so much more!

Schaffer and Mr. Solomon for all of their planning and hard work!

We are officially 4 days away from Family Olympics. The forecast is looking good and we hope to see you there!

This week students in grades Prek through 3rd grade visited the bookmobile and were able to select books to keep and enjoy. Thank you to the Maryland Book Bank for providing our students with such a great experience!
