Vickery Creek Middle

OFFICIAL facebook of Vickery Creek MS, located in Cumming, GA! VCMS, home of the Vipers, opened with 700 students in 1999.

It was named after the community, Vickery Creek, in which it is located. Vickery Creek is named after a Cherokee woman named Sharlot Vickery that lived in present-day Roswell and owned much of the land around the creek. The creek was originally called Cedar Creek; however, the name was changed to Vickery some time after the arrival of Roswell King and family in 1834. The building was a new construction prototype, which has been replicated across the county multiple times and also modified into a two-story design. It received classroom additions and renovations in 2002.

VCMS September Teacher of the Month

Linda Desmond goes above and beyond to make mathematics accessible, encouraging, and engaging for every student who steps into her classroom. Understanding that math can often feel intimidating, she works tirelessly to create a supportive environment where students feel safe taking risks, asking questions, and learning from their mistakes.

Rather than just teaching formulas, she focuses on fostering true independent growth. She constantly explores innovative teaching strategies to meet different learning styles, helping students build genuine confidence and celebrate their individual successes. Whether she is introducing real-world applications to spark a new passion for the subject or providing one-on-one encouragement to a struggling learner, her dedication to student success is unmatched.

Thank you, Linda Desmond, for inspiring our students to believe in their own abilities and for making math a place where everyone can thrive!
