Kate's Club Empowering children and teens, their families, and young adults who are grieving

Since 2003, Kate's Club has created healing communities that allow grieving children and their families to have fun, express their emotions, remember their loved ones, develop healthy coping skills, and know that they are not alone. We are the only organization in Metro Atlanta that provides long-term therapeutic and recreational support for grieving children, and 100% of our kids would recommend Kate's Club to a friend who is grieving. It's a misconception to think of Kate's Club as a sad place simply because we're a grief services organization. More often than not, when you enter a Kate's Club program, you see smiles and hear laughter. And for the somber moments, we're grateful that the sad moments are shared with peers and mentors instead of experienced alone.

Grief can be hard to navigate when we don’t yet have the words for it. On Tuesday, November 10, Lane Pease Hendricks, MS, NCC, of Kate's Club, and social worker and author Nancy L. Kriseman, MSW, LCSW, will offer caring guidance for the adults supporting grieving children and teens.

In Through Their Eyes: Understanding & Supporting Grieving Children & Teens, you’ll learn:

✔️ How grief can look different at every age, from preschoolers to teens
✔️ What to say, and what not to say, to a grieving child
✔️ Practical strategies for families, plus ways caregivers can care for themselves, too

📚 Attend live for a chance to win our panelists’ book, We Come Together as One!

🗓️ Tuesday, November 10 | 7–8 PM on Zoom
This webinar is free and open to the public.

We are so grateful that Fulton County Juvenile Court Probation Services recognized Kate's Club for our outstanding service and work with youth! Up to 90% of youth in the juvenile justice system are bereaved, which is why it's so important that they have access to grief support.

Kate's Club provided an 8-week grief support group managed by our Online Community Manager & Content Strategist, Dena DeGraffenreid, for teenagers between the ages of 15-17. They participated in grief support activities and group discussions, and we look forward to continuing to support grieving youth through Fulton County Probation Services in 2027!

Check out Kate's Club in a new Medium article written by Edward Reid! Edward sat down with our Executive Director, Lisa Bael Aman, and our member-turned-volunteer, Madison Billings, to talk about their experience with grief and Kate's Club.

Madison was only 9 years old when her mom died from cancer. She remembers how hard it was watching her mom go from the person she used to play with to someone who could no longer speak or squeeze her hand. After her mom's death, her family moved to Atlanta and joined Kate's Club.

"For Madison, Kate’s Club offered something she rarely encountered in her everyday life: other children who understood what it meant to lose a parent."

Grace's parents died within the span of a few months. In the midst of her grief, she became pregnant with her first son and has had to face motherhood without two of the most important people by her side. Grace doesn't just miss her parents during milestones; she misses the small, ordinary moments that she no longer gets to share with them. ❤️

Sisters Aree and Mariah joined Kate's Club after their dad died. In August 2022, they attended Camp Good Mourning, where they met Julia, who had recently joined Kate’s Club after her dad died in a car accident.

They instantly connected, and now 4 years later, they are still attending Camp Good Mourning together. Here they are in 2026, recreating an iconic picture they took in 2022. 🩷 Make a monthly gift today to ensure kids like Mariah, Aree and Julia find lifelong friends to lean on at Kate’s Club.

Thank you to Trilogy Financial Group for volunteering with us today and presenting us with a $6,000 check! This generous donation will directly fund our grief support programs, keeping them no-cost so that there is never a barrier to receiving support.

Thank you to Rob Spencer CFA, CFP ®, RICP®, who serves on the Kate's Club Advisory Board and is an employee and leader at Trilogy Financial Group, for creating a real impact at Kate's Club. Trilogy Financial Group has donated both time and dollars to Kate's Club over the years, and we are so grateful for their continued support.
