Last week, the Council held its Fall Quarterly Board of Directors Meeting, welcoming Jannine Miller, Executive Director of the The Georgia Transportation Efficiency Authority (GTEA), and Ann Hanlon, Executive Director of Perimeter CIDs and GTEA Board Member, as our guest speakers.

We appreciate Jannine and Ann for sharing an update on GTEA's role in improving mobility, advancing transportation infrastructure, and supporting efficient, innovative transportation solutions across Georgia. Thank you as well to our Board members for attending and engaging in this important discussion on the future of transportation and quality growth in our region.

Last week, the Council's Emerging Leaders Initiative (ELI) got a firsthand look at the future of transit in metro Atlanta.

ELI members joined MARTA to explore the MARTA Rapid A Line, the first line in its growing Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) network. Participants heard from MARTA General Manager/CEO Jonathan Hunt, MARTA Media Communications Specialist Angela Jetty, and Kimley-Horn Transportation Engineer Sage Kannan about the network's vision for improving regional connectivity before experiencing the Rapid A Line firsthand.

At the 2026 honoring Egbert Perry, Larry Gellerstedt III, Partner at Sweetwater Holdings Company and 2019 Four Pillar Award recipient, spoke on the pillar of Integrity, reflecting on Egbert’s unwavering principles, commitment to his communities, and the lasting impact of his leadership.

Larry and Egbert first met 46 years ago as young executives in Atlanta’s real estate industry, when Larry was at Beers Construction and Egbert was at H.J. Russell & Company. As their firms worked together, the two developed a lifelong friendship built on trust, candor, and mutual respect. Reflecting on their decades of friendship, Larry spoke about Egbert’s ability to see possibilities where others saw limitations, particularly through his commitment to transforming public housing into thriving mixed-income communities. He emphasized that Egbert’s integrity has remained central to his work and expressed his gratitude for the lessons and friendship they have shared over the years.

Russell & Company, where their early professional relationship grew into a longstanding friendship and a series of business collaborations that have helped shape Atlanta’s real estate landscape. Last night, the Council for Quality Growth was honored to host an exclusive reception welcoming Jonathan Hunt, the newly appointed General Manager/CEO of MARTA.
