🦷 The Dentist Is Coming to Our Schools!

The School Smiles on-site dental program is coming to Athens City Schools! This convenient program provides on-site dental care right at school for all students who register to participate.

The School Smiles dental team will set up inside each school and offers:
• Medicaid
• Private insurance
• Self-pay rates
• Grants through the School Smiles Foundation

Registration is now open! Families can sign up online at https://schoolsmiles.com/student-signup/

📅 2026 School Visit Dates:
• AHS: November 6
• East Elementary: November 10
• The Plains Intermediate: November 17
• Athens Middle School: November 18
• Morrison-Gordon Elementary: November 23

What a beautiful fall day to dig in! 🌷🍂

A huge thank you to the volunteers, big and small, who spent their morning planting bulbs around East. Thanks to your generous time and flower donations, our school grounds will be bursting with blooms come early spring.

Every flower that pops up, for years to come, will be a little reminder of what this community does when we come together. 💛

We are so fortunate to have Dr. Beth Braun as our principal 💖

She cares deeply about every single student, and it shows. She wants the very best for our teachers and staff, and she gives so much of her own time and heart to make East a place where kids thrive and families feel welcome.

👖 East Elementary needs spare sweatpants! 👖

Accidents happen, and so do soggy recesses. When a student needs a change of clothes, they need a clean, comfy pair ready so that child can change quickly and get back to class without missing a beat. Right now, we're running low.

What we need:
• Basic sweatpants in navy, black, or gray
• Sizes 4, 6, and 8
• Inexpensive basics are perfect!

✨ Today the East Elementary says thank you to our AWESOME custodial team - Oscar, Cory, and Pat. Our students made cards and balloons, and the PTO gave each custodian a gift certificate to show appreciation 🫶

The people who clean and care for our building make it a place where kids can learn, and we're grateful for them. If you see them in the halls or out and about, please say thank you - today and year round!
