Shout out to our neighbors at Ham Lake Fire for inviting us to participate in their live burn training this past weekend!
Training like this is invaluable, providing firefighters with realistic fire conditions in a controlled environment with added safety measures. Several of Andover’s newer members had the opportunity to experience real heat, advance hoselines, and get valuable nozzle time.
There’s no better way to start the day than gaining hands-on experience and sharpening the skills that help keep our community safe. Thank you, Ham Lake Fire, for the opportunity!

Members of the Andover Fire Department participated in a Mass Casualty Incident (MCI) training exercise at Andover Station 1 this evening. These trainings allow our firefighters, EMS personnel, and partner agencies to practice coordinating resources, managing patients, and responding effectively to large-scale emergencies.

While we hope these skills are never needed in a real-world event, training like this helps ensure we are prepared to protect our community when the unexpected happens.

We are aware that radio traffic from the training exercise was recorded and shared on social media as though it were an actual incident. This was a training exercise only, and there was no emergency or mass casualty incident in Andover. We apologize for any confusion this may have caused.

Thank you for your continued support as we train, prepare, and stand ready to serve the residents of Andover.

Tonight, members of the 28th Class of the Anoka County Fire Training Academy graduated, marking the beginning of their firefighting careers in the communities they serve.

Andover is proud to have had two members graduate tonight: BJ Saylor and Class President Paul Blevins.

We are incredibly proud of the dedication, hard work, and commitment these two have demonstrated throughout the academy. While graduation is a major milestone, it’s only the beginning. Next up is EMT school, getting on the trucks, and continuing to build the knowledge and skills that will make them outstanding firefighters.

Congratulations, BJ and Paul! We look forward to watching your careers grow and seeing the impact you’ll make serving the residents of Andover.

Our Andover Fire family is asking for your thoughts, prayers, and support for one of our own.

Neil, a firefighter with Andover Fire since 2020, and his 16-year-old daughter, Penelope, were involved in a tragic oil fire accident on Sunday, May 24th. Both suffered severe burns and have been receiving treatment in the HCMC Burn Unit ever since.
Neil sustained burns to his hands and wrists, while Penelope suffered burns over 22% of her body, primarily on her legs. Although both are expected to recover, they are facing a long and difficult journey ahead that will include multiple surgeries, extensive medical care, and months of recovery.

Anyone who knows Neil knows his dedication to serving others and helping people on their worst days. Now, he and Penelope need our support.

Please keep Neil and Penelope in your prayers during this incredibly difficult time. If you are able to contribute, any support through this GoFundMe will help ease the burden on their family as they focus on healing and recovery.

Thank you for supporting one of our own!

Today, members of Andover Fire were honored to take part in our community’s Memorial Day festivities taking place at Bunker Hills Activity Center. Ladder 1 proudly displayed the American flag as we joined veterans, families, and citizens in remembering and honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

After the ceremony, our crew was assisted by members of the Boy Scouts in carefully folding the flag for safe keeping until the next event. It was a great reminder of the respect, tradition, and community spirit that Memorial Day represents.

Thank you to everyone who came out to honor our nation’s heroes. 🇺🇸
