Island High School's graduates spoke movingly of their journeys to get their diplomas yesterday, as well as the significant lessons they learned along the way and their gratitude to staff for offering emotional support, guidance, and resources.

"I want to thank the staff for believing in me when I barely believed in myself," one student said. Addressing her classmates she added, "Don't ever let someone else write your story."

330 Lincoln Middle School students were promoted from middle school to high school yesterday, to the cheers of adoring family, friends, and staff.

"It seems like just yesterday they stepped foot into our classrooms as little 6th graders," one teacher told us. "Now look at them! We're always excited for them, but when they leave, they also take a piece of our hearts with them."

Thank you, LMS staff, for all you do to nurture these middle schoolers!

Ruby Bridges alums who are now graduating from Encinal visited 5th graders at their alma mater to share their wit and wisdom about transitioning into middle school.

Advice shared by the seniors included "don't be shy," "challenge yourself," "join clubs," "play sports," "ask questions," "try new things," "don't cheat - you need to know that information to take harder classes," and "make friends but don't be around people who give you weird vibes."

After the assembly, the seniors posed with staff and enjoyed juice and cupcakes!

Please join us May 22 for a ribbon cutting ceremony for the newly updated Kofman Auditorium.

The improvements include replacement fire and proscenium curtains; new fixed battens (for hanging the curtains); a full-size projection screen and state-of-the-art projector; new balcony guardrails; strengthened balcony light fixtures; new stage lights, sound systems, and control panels; a beautifully refinished stage floor; and three new dressing rooms to replace those that had been built beneath the stage and were not accessible.

Make an evening of it by grabbing dinner on Park Street after the ceremony and then returning to Kofman for the AHS Spring Dance Showcase at 7 pm!
