𝐂𝐀𝐆𝐀𝐘𝐀𝐍 𝐃𝐄 𝐎𝐑𝐎 𝐂𝐈𝐓𝐘 — On August 20, 2026, PHIVIDEC Industrial Authority (PHIVIDEC IA) brought together its locators, partners, officials, and employees for an evening of appreciation and celebration at The Cove Garden in Cugman, Cagayan de Oro City, as it hosted its annual 𝐋𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬’ 𝐍𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭.

Away from the usual meetings, deadlines, and day-to-day demands of work, the evening offered a chance to slow down, reconnect, and celebrate the companies and individuals who have become an important part of the PHIVIDEC IA community.

For PHIVIDEC IA, its locators are more than businesses operating within the PHIVIDEC Industrial Estate–Misamis Oriental (PIE-MO). They are partners whose investments, operations, and continued presence help shape the estate and contribute to the economic activity of Northern Mindanao.

A significant milestone for maritime safety, port efficiency, and regional competitiveness, the VTMS strengthens vessel traffic monitoring in Macajalar Bay through the partnership of PHIVIDEC Industrial Authority and the Philippine Coast Guard.

𝐓𝐀𝐆𝐎𝐋𝐎𝐀𝐍, 𝐌𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐬 𝐎𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥 – PHIVIDEC Industrial Authority (PHIVIDEC IA), in partnership with the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), formally inaugurated the Macajalar Bay Vessel Traffic Management System (VTMS) on August 5, 2026, marking another important step in strengthening maritime safety and improving port operations in Northern Mindanao.

Held at the VTMS Facility within the PHIVIDEC Industrial Estate, the inauguration gathered officials from the Philippine Coast Guard, PHIVIDEC IA, the local government of Tagoloan, and key stakeholders from the maritime and logistics sectors. The system is expected to enhance vessel monitoring and traffic management within Macajalar Bay, a vital shipping corridor that supports the operations of the Mindanao Container Terminal (MCT) and facilitates the movement of goods across the region and beyond.

In his message, PHIVIDEC IA Administrator/CEO 𝐀𝐭𝐭𝐲. 𝐉𝐨𝐬𝐞𝐩𝐡 𝐃𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐨 𝐉. 𝐁𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐝𝐨 expressed the agency’s gratitude to the Philippine Coast Guard for its continued partnership and support in advancing maritime safety and operational excellence.

“This is far more than the turnover of a sophisticated piece of technology. It is a powerful symbol of trust, partnership, and our shared commitment to keeping our seas safe, our ports efficient, and our nation moving forward.”

Atty. Bernedo highlighted the importance of collaboration among government agencies in delivering better services and creating lasting benefits for communities and industries alike. He noted that the VTMS will help ensure safer and more efficient maritime operations while reinforcing the competitiveness of the Mindanao Container Terminal as one of Northern Mindanao’s key gateways for trade and investment.

He further underscored the long-term value of the project, stating:

“The vessel traffic management system is not merely a technological upgrade. It is an investment in safety. It is an investment in security. It is an investment in efficiency, and it is an investment in investor confidence.”

The Macajalar Bay VTMS is expected to improve vessel traffic coordination, enhance navigational safety, and support the continued modernization of port operations in the area. Beyond improving maritime safety, the system also strengthens the region’s capacity to support growing trade, attract investments, and meet the demands of a rapidly expanding economy.

The project reflects the strong partnership between PHIVIDEC IA and the Philippine Coast Guard, both committed to ensuring safer waters and more efficient port operations in Northern Mindanao. As Mindanao Container Terminal continues to grow as a key international gateway, initiatives such as the VTMS help position the region for sustained economic development and global competitiveness.

Underscoring the growing economic partnership between the Philippines and Sri Lanka, PHIVIDEC Industrial Authority (PHIVIDEC IA) welcomed Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath, Ambassador Dr. Chanaka Harsha Talpahewa, and their delegation during an official visit to the PHIVIDEC Industrial Estate–Misamis Oriental (PIE-MO) on July 25, 2026.

In his welcome remarks, PHIVIDEC IA Administrator and CEO Atty. Joseph Donato J. Bernedo highlighted the importance of international cooperation in attracting investments, generating quality employment, and expanding economic opportunities for local communities. He emphasized that industrial development is not merely about building factories, but about improving livelihoods, strengthening industries, and fostering inclusive growth for the people of Northern Mindanao. The visit served as a meaningful reminder of how partnerships between nations can translate into tangible economic benefits at the local level.

Highlighting the growing economic ties between the two nations, PHIVIDEC IA presented two major Sri Lankan investments operating within PIE-MO—Haycarb Philippines Corporation and Jaindi Philippines Corporation. Through these investments, the Authority helped support local industries, strengthen value chains, and create sustainable livelihoods that extend beyond the Estate and into surrounding communities. Notably, while the Philippines and Sri Lanka are marking more than 65 years of diplomatic relations, it was only in recent years that two Sri Lankan companies have established operations in the country— and both chose the PHIVIDEC Industrial Estate in Misamis Oriental as the location of their Philippine operations. This noteworthy connection highlights PHIVIDEC IA’s growing reputation as a preferred destination for foreign investments and emphasizes the estate’s strategic role in linking Northern Mindanao to global markets.

The partnership paves the way for the establishment of Jaindi Philippines Corporation’s integrated coconut processing facility within the 𝗣𝗛𝗜𝗩𝗜𝗗𝗘𝗖 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗘𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲, bringing foreign investment, global expertise, and advanced processing capabilities to Northern Mindanao.

Jaindi Philippines Corporation is backed by 𝗝𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗶 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 (𝗣𝘃𝘁), 𝗟𝘁𝗱., a Sri Lankan company engaged in coconut-based products and international trade. Recognized as 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗼𝗻𝗹𝘆 𝘁𝘄𝗼 𝗦𝗿𝗶 𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗸𝗮𝗻 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀, Jaindi’s entry into the Philippine market highlights the growing economic ties between the Philippines and Sri Lanka. Through its expansion into the Philippine market, the company seeks to maximize the country’s abundant coconut resources and establish a competitive manufacturing hub that will serve both domestic and international markets.

The investment involves a total project cost of approximately 𝗨𝗦𝗗 𝟭𝟮.𝟴 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻, strategically allocated across two phases to support the project’s establishment and long-term expansion. The first phase, with an investment allocation of 𝗨𝗦𝗗 𝟵.𝟮𝟳 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻, will focus on the establishment of core processing facilities, infrastructure development, and initial product lines. The second phase, with an additional 𝗨𝗦𝗗 𝟯.𝟱 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻, will support production expansion, product diversification, and the adoption of advanced technologies.

The project will produce a diverse range of 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵-𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘂𝘁-𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘀, including virgin coconut oil, desiccated coconut, coconut flour, coconut milk powder, coconut cream, aseptic coconut milk and cream, coconut water products, coconut shell charcoal, and other coconut-derived products.

Beyond its investment value, the project is expected to generate employment opportunities, strengthen linkages with coconut farming communities, promote technology transfer, and contribute to the development of a more 𝗴𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘂𝘁 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗶𝗻.

The partnership reflects PHIVIDEC IA’s continued commitment to attract strategic investments that promote industrial growth, economic development, and business diversification in Northern Mindanao.
