NOIPOLLS at the 79th Annual WAPOR Conference, Mexico City. 🇳🇬🇲🇽
The warmth and hospitality of Mexico City have been matched by intellectual depth and rich discussions at the 79th Annual WAPOR Conference.
Bringing together international researchers, survey practitioners, pollsters and institutional representatives, the conference has provided an important platform for exploring the evolving role of public opinion in a rapidly changing global landscape.
From discussions on legal restrictions affecting public opinion research to hands-on workshops anchored by Diana Zavala-Rojas, Fransico Olivos, methodological advancements research in survey sampling in the digital age, advances in survey methods in the global south, and exchanges on emerging issues, the conference has highlighted the importance of credible and context-sensitive research in understanding citizens' perspectives.
With over 300 papers to be presented, the gathering has created valuable opportunities to challenge assumptions, share knowledge, explore new methodologies, and promote collaborations across research communities.
NOI Polls is contributing to these conversations through two research papers that examine public opinion in Nigeria, focusing on foreign policy and democracy. These studies bring Nigerian perspectives into broader discussions about international relations, democratic governance, and the place of public opinion in an emerging multipolar world order. As global political and economic relationships continue to evolve, it is increasingly important that perspectives from Nigeria and the wider Global South are meaningfully represented in international research and policy conversations.
