Work is now underway on preparing a new Local Plan for the Stroud district 🏘️

At this stage, the new Local Plan is still in the very early stages of development. No decisions have been made about future development locations, site allocations or the overall strategy for future housing growth across the district.

As a resident there is no action to take at this stage. The next formal public consultation is expected to take place in summer 2027, when residents, businesses and community groups will have an opportunity to comment on emerging options and proposals.

Temporary Footpath Closure - MR02 (Lane to Railway Track, Butterrow) - 26th Oct - 6th Nov 2026

NOTICE is hereby given that Gloucestershire County Council has made an Order to close temporarily under Sections 14, 15 and 16 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984 (as amended) the Restricted Byway MR02, Class Highway 5 and Public Footpath ZST58 as described in the schedule below;

Restricted Byway MRO 2 & Class 5 Highway ‘Lane to Railway Track Butterrow Stroud’ from its junction at Butterrow Lane at Ordnance Survey Grid Reference (OSGR) SO 85635/03941 extending in a generally easterly direction for approximately 170 metres to its junction at Public Footpath ZST 58 at (OSGR) SO 85796/03969 as indicated on the plan by a solid black line marked A to B. Public Footpath ZST 58 from its junction with MRO 2 at Ordnance Survey Grid Reference (OSGR) SO 85796/03969 extending in a generally easterly direction for approximately 60 metres to its junction with Public Footpath ZST 97 at (OSGR) SO 85856/03963 as indicated on the plan by a solid black line marked B to C.

The closures are necessary to protect the public during essential drainage works.

The Order will come into force on the 26th October 2026 and it is anticipated that the Restricted Byway, Class Highway 5 and Public Footpath, will close on that day until 6th November 2026.

However if the works are not completed by this date the Order can remain in force for up to six months from the date of the Order. After this, if the closure is still required it will be necessary to apply to the Secretary of State for an extension of time. Alternative Route: As indicated on order map Emergency Service access and pedestrian access to adjoining premises will be maintained.

For approximately 7 Nights (excl. weekends) between the hours of 19:00 to 07:00.

The PROPOSED start and end dates are currently Monday 14th December 2026 until Tuesday 22nd December 2026, however, keep an eye on the highways web page detailed below or the signs on site for any short notice changes.

Just a reminder that the parish council office will be closed this morning from 9.45am for staff training. We will be back open again on Wednesday from 9am.

The Police are reporting increased vehicle crime activity at the moment around Rodborough and Stroud. Recently this has been witnesed at the Community Hall car park in the early hours of the morning, plus captured on our CCTV. A car has also been robbed on Butterow West.

Please be extra vigilant at the moment to ensure you are locking your vehicles and not leaving valuables inside.

These are the incidents that have been reported to the police between 0800 hours on the 13th October 2026 to 0800 hours on the 14th October 2026 in the area. A silver Nissan Xtrail was entered in Butterow Hill Stroud. A neck fan was taken. This is believed to have occurred at 0325 hours on the 13th of October Anyone with any information please quote Incident numbers 211 13/10/26

A car was entered in Bisley Old Road Stroud. The car was searched but nothing appears stolen. This is believed to have occurred at 2330 hours on the 12th of October Anyone with any information please quote Incident numbers 318 13/10/26

A car was entered in Langtoft Road Stroud. A small amount of cash was taken.. This occurred between 1845 on the 12th at 0640 hours on the 13th of October Anyone with any information please quote Incident numbers 446 13/10/26

A VW Golf car was entered in Nouncells Cross Stroud. A purse containing bank cards was taken.. This occurred between 1430 hours on the 13th at 0640 hours on the 14th of October Anyone with any information please quote Incident numbers 68 14/10/26
