Pickering Castle closure 🏰

Sadly we will be closing due to dangerously high winds from both Storm Austen and Storm Boelo , this is for the safety of our visitors and staff alike.

We will be closed from 1pm Saturday 24th through to morning of Monday 26th where we can reassess.

If you paid for your ticket to the castle, we’ll refund you within 10 working days. This will happen automatically.

We always do everything to avoid closures like this, and we’re really sorry to disappoint you.

We look forward to welcoming you back next week! 😄💨

Sadly due to some unforeseen circumstances Pickering Castle will be closed for the day on Friday 16th October, we apologise any inconvenience this may cause.

Pickering Castle - 1940s weekend! 🏰

We’re very happy to announce our feature of 1940s weekend, being included on the town trail thanks to the use of the castle in wartime as Castle Camp!

We’ll be hosting a field kitchen, a memorabilia tent and multiple wartime vehicles !

Come and see us this weekend! 1940s weekend begins 9th - 11th!

A truly spectacular sight from Pickering Castle as the eclipse passed overhead. The sun cast an eerie, golden glow across the castle and the surrounding Yorkshire landscape, creating a memorable moment from one of our favourite views. ✨

🏰 Pickering Castle has reopened!

We’re delighted to welcome visitors back to Pickering Castle on 29th August after today’s closure.

We’d like to apologise for the closure and for any inconvenience it may have caused, and thank everyone for their patience and understanding.

Come and explore the castle’s historic ruins, discover centuries of history and enjoy the beautiful views from one of Pickering’s most iconic landmarks. 🌿☀️

Newest members of the Pickering Castle family!

As many of you will have seen previously, that a beautiful duck had brought her family into the castle, it seems she’s passed on how good it is to her pheasant friends !!

While Pickering Castle is a dog friendly site, please remember to keep them on lead, so we can continue to host an abundance of wildlife here at the castle 😄🏰

Our prices have changed!

In line with the government reducing the VAT on admission prices it has made it easier for people to come enjoy our beautiful site!

Come and see us this weekend! Monday - Sunday, 10am-4:30pm. 😄

As many of you might’ve seen, our estates team hard at work de-vegging areas of the site!

This entails them coming months before to spray the growth on the walls, towers and stairs leaving it for a length of time and returning to pull the roots from the weeds that have died back!

It’s always fascinating to watch them work 🏰
