Today whilst walking around Disney Florida I was informed the Gable End of Monsoon Indian Takeaway Bedlington Station was in danger of collapsing upon the public. See photo.
I contacted colleagues and Trevor Austin kindly informed NCC who despatched staff to erect a protective barrier keeping people away from the building.
Unfortunately somebody moved the barrier to one side creating danger and I was sent a photo.
Thanks again to Trevor Austin who went above and beyond by visiting the location and reinstalling the barriers. Good man. I’ll buy you a b**r when I get home. Thanks Trevor

I’m on holiday at present and will be back from Florida on 1 September and will be picking up on matters in the area when I return. I will monitor things in case any urgent matter arises

Great news

Rutherford Cancer Treatment Centre Opening

Negotiations have been ongoing and are now completed for the reopening of The Cancer Treatment Centre near Earth Balance. It was one of a group of 3 units all closed during COVID when the Company went into receivership.

We have had previous efforts by Middle Eastern parties to reopen this site plus one in Reading and another in Newport but it failed to happen. This Australian Company has 55 Cancer Treatment Centres worldwide and is opening all 3.

Initially it will be for Private Patients only but negotiations are ongoing with the NHS. The Proton Beam Therapy Unit will not reopen at this time. But the traditional Cancer Treatment Suites will be utilised providing access to 55 patients at a time.

This is great news and hopefully we can obtain access for NHS clients as soon as possible to reduce waiting times and speed up treatment.

I sent an email thanking the Chief Executive last week in advance of the moratorium on publicity being lifted today.

Apart from the much needed treatment capacity this brings I also welcome the opportunity of local staff filling the jobs that this will create

Data Centre Development

A further application has been made via an Environmental Impact Assessment Screening Report for another Data Centre in West Sleekburn.

This new application is proposing a 2 or 3 Data Hall site on the 12 Hectares HFF Aggregates site located at Factory Road, and the location would be between the other proposed Data Centre and the A189.

The proposal is for a closed loop cooling system to conserve water and the site would have the cycle track NCN and riverbank walking routes running around the perimeter. The building would match other Data Centres and be 30 metres in height.

This is an initial submission which NCC have to respond to. Public comments and objections will be invited as part of the process together with public meetings and information sharing at a later date.

I’m posting this early to give people a chance to consider the plan in readiness for later involvement when more detail is available.

The 29 paged report is available on the NCC Planning Portal under application number 26/02810 accessible to the public and I will copy it with the link here should you wish to read it

https://publicaccess.northumberland isn’t allowing me to copy it across so I will have to get a PDF copy and post it later.

Thanks
