We've got an update for you on the government's plans for Local Government Reorganisation (LGR) in Lancashire.

You may know that last month, the government decided to review all its recent LGR decisions, including its decision to replace all 15 councils in Lancashire with four new unitary councils.

Today, the government confirmed that its review of LGR in Lancashire will continue until early 2027 and that its original decision has been withdrawn.

Lancashire's LGR Programme Delivery team has already reviewed implementation plans to prioritise the work that can be progressed while the government concludes its review – work that is not dependent on a particular future council structure or implementation timetable.

This work will continue to keep Lancashire in a good position to ensure that we are well prepared for the next stage of the programme when we have the outcome of the government's review.

📍 Front, not back!

Already on weekly food waste collections? Here's a quick reminder to help our crews empty your caddy first time, every time.

Even if your wheeled bins are usually collected from the rear of your property, your outdoor food caddy needs to be at the front, at the edge of your property nearest the road.

✅ Out by 7am on your usual collection day
✅ Handle locked upright
✅ At the front, even if your other bins go out the back

Everything you need to know before Sunday's River Ribble Ramble 🥾

📅 Date: Sunday 1 November
📍 Meeting point: the event lawn at Fairhaven
⏰ Start time: 1pm, with a warm up from YMCA Fylde Coast from 12:30pm
🗺️ Route: along the coastal path to Lytham Windmill and back
☕ Refreshments: Wave Coffee on the event lawn, plus halfway refreshments at the boat house by the windmill
ℹ️ Tourism van: come and say hello for local info
🧸 Raffle: everyone who takes part is entered to win an extra-large Pudsey
☔ Rain or shine, the Ramble goes ahead whatever the weather
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 All ages and abilities welcome (no need to pre-register, just turn up!)

The rangers are looking forward to an afternoon of spring bulb planting tomorrow! 🌷

Come along and lend a hand at Hope Street Park between 1 and 3pm 🪏

Location: Hope Street Park (FY8 3SL)
Date: 29th October 2026
Time: 1pm to 3pm

We'll be planting up the orchard with snowdrops, wild daffodils, naturalising tulips, snake's head fritillaries and English bluebells to create a stunning display from January to April next year 🌱
