Reform-led Suffolk County Council plan to cut nearly 50 community staff nurses.

One staff nurse said: " It would leave significant gaps in the service putting babies, children, and families at risk."

Oppose their damaging proposals by writing to your local County Councillor: https://www.writetothem.com/

Yesterday, Jess Asato and I met the Minister for Public Health, Diana Johnson, to raise our deep concerns over Reform's proposals to axe Suffolk's community staff nurses.

Under their plans, Reform would cut up to 50 nurses putting babies, children, and families at risk.

You can write to your local councillor on Suffolk County Council urging them to oppose Reform's damaging proposals: https://www.writetothem.com/

With a decision expected in the next few weeks, it is not too late for them to reverse their brutal cuts to this crucial family service.

A fortnight ago at PMQs, I urged the Prime Minister, Andy Burnham, to put co-operative principles at the heart of our new National Care Service.

We must fix this broken system once and for all and finally put people over profit.

That is what our loved ones deserve when it comes to social care.

It was such a joy to join Suffolk Bengali Society for their Durga Puja event at the weekend.

It was such a vibrant, colourful and happy celebration with hundreds of people in attendance across both days.

Thank you to all those who worked so hard in making it happen.

Autumn has definitely arrived, but our Ipswich Labour team are out every week, all year round, talking to local residents, even if it's a bit wet, rainy or cold!

This weekend, we met people in Downside Close. Thank you to everyone who took the time to speak to us.

Every day, I am inspired by people in Ipswich who are selflessly working to make our town a better place.

Our City of Culture bid was our town at its best, with people, organisations and businesses coming together as one.

I want to thank everyone who contributed to our bid in so many ways.

From the creative organisations and the youth groups who were the heart and soul of the bid, to the businesses who funded it and backed it.

I want to also pay particular tribute to Lee Walker, Ipswich Central, and Bryony Hope, DanceEast, who were there right at the beginning, pulling this bid together in its early stages.

A special thank you to Amy Vaughan, our Bid Director who did an incredible and inspirational job - you have given our town such a foundation to build from.

And thank you to every single one of you, who came together in your thousands to back the bid, and back our town.

I won’t apologise for being ambitious for Ipswich. For wanting to highlight all the brilliant things we have to offer on the national stage. For talking up our town, when others want to pull it down. For looking to find solutions to our challenges. For believing in our potential and our future.

And neither should you.

The town misses out in the running to win a £10m prize pot for 2029.
