Following pressure from the Conservative Group, an Extraordinary Cabinet meeting has been scheduled for 29 June to discuss the proposed legal challenge to LGR in Suffolk.

“A decision this significant should be made in public, so it is right that it is finally coming to an open meeting. However, it is telling that Reform will not follow this council’s own precedent of debating matters relating to local government reorganisation at Full Council. They are not only excluding opposition councillors, but their own members too – what are they afraid of?” Cllr Richard Rout

We believe residents deserve clear answers before public money is committed to what could be a lengthy and costly legal process.

Really pleased that this project is finally coming to fruition after many years in the making!

Work is now underway to improve the public bridleway between Horringer and Bury St Edmunds, creating a new 2-metre-wide surfaced route that will provide a much safer off-road option for pedestrians, cyclists and other users. The scheme also includes a short section alongside the A143 and will improve access to the beautiful Ickworth Estate.

This project is the culmination of many years of campaigning, partnership working and determination from the local community. Residents have consistently raised concerns about the safety of travelling along the A143, and this new route will provide a much-needed alternative for walkers, cyclists and families.

Not only will it improve connectivity between Horringer and Bury St Edmunds, but it will also encourage active travel and make it easier for both residents and visitors to enjoy everything Ickworth has to offer without relying on the car.

Construction began on 1 June and is expected to take around 13 weeks to complete.

A huge thank you to everyone who has helped make this happen, including Suffolk Highways, the National Trust, Horringer-cum-Ickworth Parish Council and all the local residents who have supported the project over the years.

This is a fantastic investment in our local infrastructure that will benefit the community for many years to come.
