Uffington Feast & Scarrotts Fair

Unfortunately we have been advised by George Scarrott that due to declining support over the last few years and increased financial costs that the fair will not be coming to the Jubilee Field in Uffington this year.

George has said it was not an easy decision with a long history of the fair in the village and would like to thank everyone for their support over the years and has said that this is not the end, just some time to regroup.

Do you live in Oxfordshire and want to help our efforts to protect freshwater habitats?

We are looking for volunteers to join us in September to help us to map invasive non-native plant species in the River Ock catchment. 🔎

These species can have a significant impact on freshwater wildlife. A better understanding of their distribution can help us to put effective management measures in place to create healthier freshwater landscapes.

Our volunteer training will give you the skills and knowledge you need to accurately identify invasive non-native species, such as Himalayan Balsam and Rhododendron.

Graffiti, harmless or not??

The Parish Council has been made aware of graffiti taking place on the tables around the Jubilee Field.

I am sure that those taking part in this think of it as harmless fun, but for individuals wanting to sit at a table and relax, the table being covered in various drawings might not be on their wish list (not to forget this is a form of criminal damage/vandalism).

The majority has been removed although some initials and names are still visible (if anyone wants to have a look and see if they might be aware of who the offenders are or could be). Someone might even want to finish the cleaning to avoid being identified!
