Spurgeons Services Update: Birmingham Young Carers

From Tuesday 1st October, the Birmingham Young Carers Service will be transferred to Forward Carers and Action for Children following a re-tender process.

We are so incredibly proud of the difference that our Birmingham Young Carers Service has made over the last 15 years. We have assessed and supported an incredible 4,000 young carers and their families and trained staff in over 150 primary and secondary schools across Birmingham.

We want to say a huge thank you to all of the young carers and families that have been part of the service over many years for so many happy memories that have been created together. It has been a pleasure and a privilege to work alongside you.

We want to thank the team for all of their amazing work, passion and commitment in supporting these inspirational young people and their families and making it a truly special part of the work of Spurgeons.

Yesterday marked the end of Birmingham Young Carers Unite July walking challenge to raise money to support our summer activities. We were aiming to walk 500 miles and raise £500 to enable us to take a group of YP out for a day trip to Alton Towers . We exceeded our original target, walking over 700 miles (final total to be confirmed). However, we have fallen short of our fundraising target. So far we have around £300 via Just Giving and cash donations. Thank you to all of you that have donated already. In 5 days a small group of Birmingham young carers are heading to Southampton to join young carers from all over the country for the annual Young Carers festival, this is a chance to have a break from caring , have lots of fun and make new friends. None of the young people have been before and are all really excited
