A house spanning the centuries from its royal beginnings in Tudor times to its place as a welcoming retreat full of intrigue for you to explore, lose yourself in an era of inspiration with names such as Jane Austen gracing our story. Discover a chapel where sunlight streams in through magnificent stained-glass windows, an ancient Roman ring and a theatrical 18th-century staircase hall. The view from the house steals your breath with the silent beauty of the first hoar frost, the autumnal glow through a misty morning to lazy summer days spent picnicking on the lawn that stretches to a shimmering lake. The gardens are a peaceful escape from the suburban surrounds. Discover secret picnic spots, stroll by the ornamental lake or explore the restored Walled Garden now a working kitchen garden providing delicious, fresh and seasonal produce to our Tudor Tea room. The ancient woodlands are a great place in every season from the carpet of spring bluebells to autumn leaves. Sneak into the wetland bird hide, and experience tantalising glimpses of wildlife. Come alone or with friends and family, there's plenty to see and do for all ages of adventurer.

Beavering away behind the scenes, a fantastic team of volunteers are giving their time to support Christmas 2026 at The Vyne.

With Twelve Days of Christmas launching on 21 November, this afternoon the team has been carefully tracing coats of arms templates needed to decorate the flags of the eleven pipers piping.

Our volunteers have been going above and beyond to help make this Christmas magical and we hope you enjoy the final result.

👻 Ghost or mummy? Our chunky Halloween gingerbread biscuits are the perfect treat after a spooky adventure in The Vyne’s gardens. Topped with delicious icing and packed with flavour, they're available in the Brewhouse tea-room in the run-up to Halloween, subject to availability.

Why would anyone cut up a rare seventeenth-century book?

As part of The Vyne's exhibition Taste, Design and the Georgian Gentleman, this talk investigates a collection gem with an intriguing tale to tell.

Published in 1658, Sir William Dugdale's The History of St Paul's Cathedral in London is one of the most important records of Old St Paul's Cathedral before its destruction in the Great Fire of London.

Yet at some point in its history, sections of it were cut out.

Why was this extraordinary piece of history cut apart? Who was responsible? And how does this curious act connect to the story of The Vyne and one of its most influential owners?

Join us as we unravel the clues and reveal the surprising story behind this historic treasure.

After the talk, there will be time for questions and an opportunity to see the vandalised volume on display in the house.
