Modular temporary housing solutions appear to be gaining traction across the world, offering accommodation alongside support for those facing homelessness, addiction, and mental health challenges.

Could these developments provide a valuable stepping stone towards stability and independence? Or, without the right support and management, could they risk creating further social challenges?

Is modular housing part of the solution, or are we overlooking the need for more permanent housing?

Instead of leaving people in the cold, Minneapolis created Avivo Village with 100 private rooms inside a warehouse. 🤝🏠

Opened in December 2020, Avivo Village provides secure indoor accommodation for people experiencing homelessness in Minneapolis. The converted warehouse contains 100 private living spaces alongside mental health care, substance-use support, medical assistance, employment services, and housing guidance. By July 2026, Avivo reported helping 339 residents transition into permanent housing, demonstrating the impact of supportive shelter programs.

Today, on World Homeless Day, we’re recognising that homelessness can happen to anyone.

At CC Housing, we see the importance of safe, stable accommodation and the right support in helping people move forward with greater security and independence.

Homelessness happens. Compassion, understanding, and support matter.

Not a random list of places. 📍

It’s a snapshot of where women sleeping rough are forced to stay to avoid violence, abuse and exploitation. ⚠️

But because women often don’t visibly bed down on the streets, they can be overlooked by services, missed by official counts and left without the support they need.

Next week, the fifth annual Women’s Rough Sleeping Census begins. Using a gender-informed approach, the Census looks beyond the places and patterns traditionally associated with rough sleeping to uncover the true scale of women’s homelessness. 🔎

Because if we don’t see women, we can’t support them. 💜

Well done from all the team at CC Housing, Mohammed. And we wish you the best of luck with your further studies! 👏

Today, history has been made. This is just the first step towards destigmatizing homelessness as a whole.

The repeal of the Vagrancy Act marks the end of a law that criminalised people for sleeping rough: a significant milestone in the fight for dignity, compassion and justice.

But changing the law is only the beginning. We must continue challenging the stigma surrounding homelessness and work towards a UK where everyone is treated with empathy, respect and humanity, regardless of their housing situation.

Let's keep the conversation going and build a society that sees homelessness as a social issue to solve, not a crime to punish.
