REMINDER: Join the Almonte Legion tomorrow at 11 am on the banks of the Mississippi River (beside Almonte Old Town Hall) for their Battle of the Atlantic ceremony.

The ceremony honours sailors, aviators and merchant mariners who defended the North Atlantic in the Second World War. For 81 years, Canadians have remembered their sacrifice and the lasting impact it has had on the Navy.

This year’s ceremony will include several distinguished Naval and Air Force guests.
It's a special honour to welcome Commander John Chance, Royal Canadian Naval Volunteer Reserve (Ret’d), a 102‑year‑old Veteran of the Battle of the Atlantic and one of the last surviving Canadians who served. Commander Chance will be joining us from Fairview Manor in Almonte.

At the May 26 meeting, Council received the Roads and Public Works Service Delivery Review, which outlines what services the department provides, how they’re delivered, how we compare to other municipalities and where improvements can be made for greater efficiency.

Council has also directed staff to:
🔷 Begin a gravel road review and needs study
🔷 Examine current and future staffing levels, with a report coming back in June

This work will help ensure our roads and public works services continue to meet the needs of our growing community.
