At Bright Beginnings, our theme was Hatching Eggs, where we explore the wonderful ways different creatures emerge from fragile yet amazing eggs through play, stories and hands-on learning.

Children enjoy sensory exploration with chia seed slime inspired by frog eggs, create their own sensory rice egg shakers, and discover a dinosaur-themed loose parts play experience indoors. Collaborative sandpit play encourages creativity, teamwork and imaginative thinking, while our shared music session brings everyone together with favourites such as Three Little Speckled Frogs, Old MacDonald Had a Farm, The Hokey Pokey, and songs about a chicken who laid a shaky egg.

Our story, A Dozen Eggs, Please by YoYo Books, sparks curiosity and conversation, reinforcing the idea that play and learning go hand in hand for young children.

Bright Beginnings is a welcoming, child-friendly environment where families can connect, explore and enjoy learning and growing together. Our next theme is Exploring Space, and we look forward to another exciting adventure.

We are aware that this is the same day as State of Origin, so students are welcome to wear their State of Origin jerseys and/or wear yellow in recognition of National Reconciliation Week.

Dear community,

The Ipswich City Council will be undertaking works on the Blackstone Road Drainage Rehabilitation project.

Notification of Works which provides an overview of the project, it’s anticipated impacts and temporary access changes is attached.
Works will commence from Monday 1 June 2026 and will take approximately 6 weeks to complete, weather and site conditions permitting. Works will be undertaken during the day, between 9am and 7pm, Monday to Friday.

As part of the works, the westbound lane on Blackstone Road will be closed to general traffic between the South Station Road intersection and Grange Road, during work hours.

Please be aware that key access changes will also be in place to the school pick up and drop off areas on Prospect and Molloy Streets. If accessing these streets from the westbound direction, motorists will be directed from the South Station Road intersection to Glebe Road. Exiting these streets back onto Blackstone Road, will be via left turn only.

The council recognises the temporary traffic changes will directly impact the school. Community communication regarding this is not to be directed to the school office, community are able to contact the Project Team via [email protected] or 07 3810 6666.

What a wonderful morning celebrating Under 8’s Day at Silkstone State School!

Our junior students enjoyed a morning filled with play, creativity, laughter and learning as we celebrated the importance of early childhood. It was fantastic to see children exploring, creating, connecting and having so much fun together.

Thank you to our staff, families and community partners who helped make the day so special for our students.

Thank you to our P&C who supplied all of the goods for the Sausage Sizzle.
