Municipality of Kariba Official

Municipality of Kariba Official We want to put the focus on positive stories that give proof to our efforts in terms of delivering various services to our residents.

This page has been created by the Municipality of Kariba to improve and to ensure the continuity and quality of well-institutionalized long-term communication with its residents and stakeholders in order to fulfil Council’s long-term vision, that is: “On a regular basis and in a proactive way, we want to share up-to-date information with our residents that reflect the reality. Taking the

initiative prevents us from being reactive with regards to communication from other stakeholders (false information, rumours, complaints etc.) and allows us to build our reputation in a positive way: Council and residents should be perceived as a unity.”

The Municipality of Kariba, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Child Care, today, 6 May 2026, successfully conducted Ward Sensitization Meetings on the Mass Distribution of Insecticide-Treated Nets (ITNs).
The meetings were held at Mahombekombe Hall for Wards 5, 6, and 7, and at Nyamhunga Hall for Wards 1, 2, 3, 4, 8, and 9. These engagements brought together Ward Development Committees (WADCOs), Residents’ Association representatives, people living with disabilities, government departments, and NGOs to share key information on the ITN distribution exercise.
The sessions focused on strengthening community awareness, clarifying the roles of local leaders and stakeholders, and promoting strategies to ensure effective coverage and proper utilization of mosquito nets at the household level.
The Municipality thanks all stakeholders and community representatives who participated. Their involvement remains vital in supporting this important public health initiative aimed at preventing malaria and safeguarding our communities.

The Municipality of Kariba today conducted a progress tour of the Kasese Housing Project with representatives from the Residents Associations, the Kasese Project Committee, and members of the media. The tour provided stakeholders with an opportunity to appreciate the significant milestones achieved so far and reaffirm the Council’s commitment to delivering the project on schedule.

It was noted during the tour that construction of the main sewer trunk is now approximately 30% complete, while overall project implementation is at around 50% — a clear indication that the project is progressing steadily and on course for timely completion.

The Municipality urges all beneficiaries to continue honouring their dues and obligations, as consistent payments are critical in sustaining momentum and ensuring the successful completion of this transformative housing development. Residents’ continued support and commitment remain key to the realization of the Kasese Housing Project for the benefit of the community. The Municipality of Kariba is pleased to announce the successful supply and delivery of a new backhoe loader, procured using the Council’s own funds.
This milestone comes just a few days after we witnessed the delivery of a motorized grader, demonstrating Council’s continued commitment to strengthening its fleet and improving service delivery.
The backhoe loader will play a critical role in infrastructure maintenance, including road works, servicing of Kasese, water and sewer repairs, and other essential public works across the town. Its addition is expected to enhance operational efficiency, reduce reliance on hired equipment, and enable quicker response to service delivery needs.
Council encourages all residents to pay their rates and dues on time so the Municipality can remain fully operational and continue improving service delivery.
