The Research Council of Zimbabwe (RCZ) is proud to be participating in the 2nd International Anti-Corruption Research Conference, taking place from 4–6 August 2026 at the Rainbow Hotel in Bulawayo. The conference, jointly organised by the Research Council of Zimbabwe (RCZ), the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) and Bindura University of Science Education (BUSE), has brought together researchers, policymakers, academics, anti-corruption practitioners, technology experts and development partners from Zimbabwe and beyond to explore innovative, research-driven solutions to combat corruption. Under the theme "Leveraging Disruptive Technologies to Strengthen Anti-Corruption Strategies," the conference seeks to stimulate knowledge generation, strengthen collaboration, and develop evidence-based policy recommendations that harness emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, blockchain, cybersecurity and digital governance to promote transparency, accountability and integrity. It also aims to strengthen national and regional anti-corruption strategies while positioning Zimbabwe as a hub for anti-corruption research and innovation.

As one of the conference's principal organisers, RCZ reaffirmed its commitment to advancing research that addresses national priorities and supports good governance. In his presentation, RCZ Executive Director, Dr P. Chikudza, highlighted that "corruption negatively touches so many aspects of lives and research indeed has a role to curb corruption in its various manifestations." The conference underscores the critical role that research, innovation and strategic partnerships play in addressing complex governance challenges. By bringing together diverse expertise from academia, government, industry and international organisations, the event is fostering meaningful dialogue, generating practical solutions and strengthening collaborative efforts to build a transparent, accountable and corruption-free Zimbabwe. RCZ remains committed to supporting research that informs policy, drives sustainable development and contributes to national transformation.

The Research Council of Zimbabwe (RCZ) is pleased to announce a significant funding opportunity under the Science Granting Councils Initiative (SGCI) STISA-2034 Multilateral Research Call, which seeks to support collaborative, multi-country research projects aligned with Africa's Science, Technology and Innovation Strategy for Africa 2034 (STISA-2034). The call presents an exceptional opportunity for Zimbabwean researchers and institutions to secure funding for high-impact research that addresses continental and national development priorities while strengthening regional scientific collaboration across Africa. As Zimbabwe's national science granting council, the Research Council of Zimbabwe is participating in this initiative and will support successful Zimbabwean researchers and institutions through the funding mechanism established under the programme. Researchers are therefore encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity and position themselves for participation in competitive, Africa-led research consortia.

The call focuses on five strategic thematic areas:

• Agriculture
• Health
• Artificial Intelligence and Digital Technologies
• Energy
• Environment

Zimbabwean institutions are eligible to participate in the Agriculture, Artificial Intelligence and Digital Technologies, and Energy thematic streams.

Researchers are advised that funding under this call is available only through collaborative, multi-country consortia. To qualify, each proposal must comprise institutions from at least three participating SGCI countries. A consortium must therefore include one lead applicant institution and at least two co-applicant institutions from different participating countries. This requirement is mandatory and should be considered early in the consortium-building process. The initiative seeks to support projects that generate new knowledge and innovations, strengthen regional research partnerships, contribute to policy uptake and implementation, and advance Africa's science, technology and innovation agenda. Successful projects may run for up to 36 months and will receive support through participating Science Granting Councils, including the Research Council of Zimbabwe.

Researchers are strongly encouraged to begin identifying suitable partners from participating African countries and to develop competitive proposals that address pressing regional and continental challenges while delivering tangible socio-economic benefits.

The deadline for submission of Expressions of Interest is 25 September 2026.

The Second International Anti-Corruption Research Conference (4–6 August 2026, Bulawayo) invites scholars, anti-corruption practitioners, policymakers, technology experts, and other stakeholders to submit abstracts. The conference theme" Leveraging Disruptive Technologies to Strengthen Anti-Corruption Strategies" will explore emerging corruption risks and responses linked to AI and data analytics, blockchain and cryptocurrency, e-governance and digital transparency, cybersecurity and digital evidence, digital identity systems, technology-enabled whistleblowing, and the ethical, legal, and regulatory challenges of digital anti-corruption tools. Selected abstracts will be presented during conference sessions and will contribute to peer-reviewed publication outputs, helping to strengthen national and regional anti-corruption strategies.
