The Agricultural Marketing Authority, as a member of the Zimbabwe Agricultural Show Society (ZAS) Cotton Section, is participating in the adjudication process for the provincial cotton farmer selections.

Working alongside fellow Cotton Section members including ZAS, ARDAS, Cottco, Quton Seed Company, and the Kadoma Cotton Research Institute, the team is assessing outstanding farmers under categories such as Best Female Cotton Farmer, Best Youth Cotton Farmer, and the National Overall Best Cotton Farmer.

Yesterday, the adjudication team visited Mashonaland East Province, covering Mutoko and Murehwa, where farmers continue to demonstrate commitment, resilience, and excellence in cotton production.

We commend all farmers participating in this year’s selections and celebrate their contribution to Zimbabwe’s agricultural sector.

The Agricultural Marketing Authority (AMA) today met with key stakeholders in the Macadamia Nut value chain to explore collaborative strategies for strengthening and growing the sector. Continuous engagement with key value chain actors remains a top priority as we work together towards a more productive, competitive, and sustainable industry.

The Agricultural Marketing Authority (AMA) was honoured to participate as a facilitator at the Market Linkages Capacity Building Training hosted by the Zimbabwe Land and Agrarian Network (ZiLAN) in collaboration with the Zimbabwe Smallholder Organic Farmers Forum (ZIMSOFF).

The training brought together smallholder farmers and key stakeholders to strengthen their understanding of structured markets and improve market participation.

Key highlights from the training:

Understanding how markets function and identifying reliable buyers
Exploring local market opportunities for small-scale producers
Production planning aligned to market demand
Addressing challenges faced in marketing agricultural produce
Access to financing and improving post-harvest standards
Value addition through processing and preservation
Integration of small-scale producers into export markets

Through its facilitation, AMA provided insights on market systems, pricing dynamics, and practical approaches to linking farmers with formal markets.

The interactive sessions created a platform for knowledge sharing, engagement, and collaboration among farmers and institutions.

The training concluded with a commitment from farmer groups to cascade the knowledge within their communities and strengthen their Value-Based Organisations (VBOs).

We appreciate the opportunity to contribute towards building informed, market-oriented farming communities.
