๐ฅ ZNBWCB BOXING LEGENDS | MISHECK KONDWANI ๐ฟ๐ผ
From the boxing heartland of Mbare to championship bouts across Africa and the United Kingdom, Misheck Kondwani carved out his place in Zimbabwean boxing through courage, discipline and determination.
Kondwani emerged from a talented generation of Mbare fighters groomed by the late respected coach Gilbert Josamu, alongside names such as Zvenyika โMosquitoโ Alfonso, Farai โMasterโ Kachigwada and Fellow Neusenga. He also credits veteran manager Mr Stalin โBossโ Mau Mau for playing an important role in guiding their careers and opening opportunities beyond the local boxing scene.
In 1999, Kondwani captured the Zimbabwe Super Bantamweight title, defeating Nokutula Tsabangu. He would later add regional honours by winning the Zone Six title, defeating Zambiaโs Christopher Katunga over 12 rounds in Zimbabwe.
His career also took him onto the international stage, where he shared the ring with highly regarded opponents including Paulus โThe Hitmanโ Moses of Namibia, Antony Tsela of South Africa, Brian Carr in Scotland, Nick Cook in London, and South African world champion Dhlamini.
Those contests exposed Kondwani to some of the toughest competition of his era and helped establish him among the Zimbabwean fighters who carried the country's flag beyond its borders.
Today, his contribution to boxing continues outside the competitive ring.
Through MK Topstars Boxing Club in Mbare, Kondwani is now dedicating himself to developing the next generation of fighters under the philosophy of โcatch them young.โ His mission goes beyond producing champions โ he wants boxing to provide young people with discipline, purpose and an alternative to drugs and other social challenges.
His journey represents the cycle that keeps boxing alive: a youngster is groomed, becomes a champion, and eventually returns to groom others.
The Zimbabwe National Boxing and Wrestling Control Board celebrates Misheck Kondwani and the coaches, managers and fighters whose dedication helped shape Zimbabwe's boxing heritage. ๐ฟ๐ผ๐ฅ
