Political parties are essential to democracy. Political parties have juridical personality. They have the ability to aggregate the interests of various sectors, communities and geographical territories into one coherent platform of government. At the same time, they possess the capacity to claim representation of the various interests their parties are upholding in their platform. Equally important, political parties have the capacity to win elections so that their platform and programs may be implemented. Political parties therefore have the opportunity to establish control over the government and push for their platforms, policies and programs. There is a need in Zimbabwe to try and emulate the multiparty system in Morocco. There is a need to consider small political parties when voting. In the status quo, factionalism within the MDC Alliance has led to the undermining of democracy and inefficiencies in governance owing to re calls. The will of the people is continually being sidelined. The duo poly and contradictory political culture of Zanu pf & MDC Alliance has created bi-polarization that is detrimental to the country's development. To counter such a sad state of affairs, there is a need to consider voting into office legislators and councillors from small various political parties so as to realize a multi party system along with its system of compromises, checks and balances. Only then can the citizens' will be uphold and not be held at ransom by "major political parties" as they push for their own myopic selfish agendas.
Morocco's liberal RNI party has won most seats in the country's parliamentary elections followed by another liberal party, PAM, while co-ruling moderate PJD Islamists suffered a crushing defeat, preliminary results showed on Thursday.
