The Agency continues to advance reforms to improve the ease of doing business. During the quarter, significant fee reductions were enacted under the ZIDA General Investments (S.I. 17 of 2026) and Special Economic Zones (S.I. 18 of 2026) Regulations. This downward review of licensing fees is a deliberate intervention to reduce the cost of entry and enhance Zimbabwe’s competitiveness, reaffirming the country’s commitment to being a cost-competitive investment destination and signalling that Zimbabwe is open for business

The Agency continues to build momentum in 2026, reinforcing Zimbabwe’s position as an emerging investment destination. In the first quarter alone, the Agency recorded measurable progress in enhancing the investment climate through targeted policy alignment, strengthened investor engagement, and improved facilitation processes.

While global economic headwinds persist, the shift towards higher-value and more structured investments signals growing investor confidence and a maturing investment pipeline. The Zimbabwe Investment & Development Agency - ZIDA continues to champion inclusive investment participation through targeted engagement with Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).

At the ZITF Company MSME Workshop held at Holiday Inn Bulawayo, ZIDA’s Chief Business Development Officer, Noel Mahombera, CFA, delivered a compelling presentation on “Unlocking Opportunities in Business and Knowledge Process Outsourcing (BKPO) for Zimbabwean SMEs.”

The session highlighted the significant potential for local enterprises to integrate into global value chains through service-based exports, leveraging Zimbabwe’s skilled human capital, strategic positioning, and growing digital ecosystem. Emphasis was placed on how SMEs can tap into the BKPO framework to scale operations, access international markets, and contribute to the country’s broader economic transformation agenda.

This engagement forms part of ZIDA’s ongoing commitment to ensuring that investment opportunities are accessible, inclusive, and aligned with national development priorities, moving from awareness to participation, and ultimately, to enterprise growth and job creation.
