St Aidan’s School Hosts Starlink Donation
.. as Independence Legacy Projects Transform Learning
St Aidan’s Council Primary School continues to shine as digital transformation reaches schools in Harare Metropolitan Province.
The school today hosted the donation of 20 Starlink kits to schools across the province by the Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution for Harare Metropolitan Province, Honourable Senator Charles Tawengwa, as part of the Independence Legacy Projects.
St Aidan’s Council Primary School, which proudly hosted the Provincial Independence Day Celebrations last month, has continued to benefit from the legacy projects.
During the Independence celebrations, the school received a borehole donation which has since improved water supply and enabled the establishment of a drip irrigation scheme at the school.
Other Chitungwiza Municipality schools that benefited from the Starlink donation include Ndangariro Primary School, Zengeza Main Primary School and Tasimukira Primary School.
Young Africa Zimbabwe in Unit L also received the donation.
Speaking during the handover ceremony, Honourable Senator Tawengwa said the initiative reflects President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s vision of leaving no one and no place behind.
“Access to the internet is no longer a luxury. It is a necessity — the gateway to knowledge, research, collaboration and opportunity,” he said.
“Today, with the provision of these kits, we are opening a new chapter, one where our schools can stand shoulder to shoulder with the world, empowered by reliable internet and modern digital tools.”
He added that empowering teachers and learners with connectivity and devices will accelerate the integration of technology into education and support the attainment of National Development Strategy 2 pillars on human capital development, innovation and modern infrastructure.
Chitungwiza Mayor Councillor Rosaria Mangoma expressed gratitude for the continued support towards improving learning conditions in council schools.
“Today is yet another special occasion for Chitungwiza, particularly for St Aiden’s Council Primary School. Just a month ago, you were here to officiate at the National Independence Day celebrations, and you left behind a lasting legacy,” she said.
“Your donation of a borehole has greatly improved water supply at this school, and for that we remain sincerely grateful.”
The Mayor added that the Starlink kits will open opportunities for online learning, research and innovation for learners while helping bridge the digital divide and ensuring that Chitungwiza is not left behind in the digital era.
