News filtering from CUT is that the President was successful in defending the students after the Admin was proposing to hike the supplementary Exam fees to $40.00 or remove the Sups. This was done to squiz the President into accepting the increase. According to Cde Chapi, the ZICOSU and Presidential Spokesperson, our intelligent O-Blacka denied any of the above suggestions which led to the Admin wanting to go for a vote in which he also denied as the result was to come down to 20 against 1 of Cde Blacka. His Excellence resisted this and other increament proposals. Well Done mukoma Stanley Moyo. WE LOVE YOU AND MAY GOD BLESS YOU IN ABUNDANCE

ZICOSU CUT Executive to sit and deliberate on the appointment of CUT SRC Vice President. Whoever is going to be proposed by the Executive will then be approved by the Presidium and then passed on to be discussed by the Provincial leadership in which Cde Blacka is the Chairman. Once that person is endorsed by the Provincial leadership then all will be well. So with that, whoever is tipped to be nominated by the CUT Executive will definitely make it to the position. According to Cde Chapi due circumstances beyond the union's reach that have impended the swearing in ZSC leader Munyaradzi Makunike as SRC VP, ZICOSU CUT Chapter is left with no option than to nominate a candidate who will then be appointed by the President Cde Blacka

"On Monday, the 6th of August 2012, there will be a fees revision meeting in which our President Cde Blacka will be representing our interests as the CUT students. The position that has already been taken by the ZICOSU CUT executive is that there should be no fees increase at all. The money that we are paying to date is more than enough, therefore we should remain with that as our fees or any change that can be taken is the reduction of the current fee." This was said by ZICOSU Secretary for Information, Cde Rodwell Chapingidza. He also said the same position will be adopted by the SRC and no one will argue against the President when he denies any increament proposal by the Admin.

If that exam was a disaster then it becomes a cause for concern and would attract negotiations as to what should be done for people to go for attachment n maybe for them to get a second bite of the cherry kumasup even vakaita mazero. We dont want to tanish the name of the University. Lets then stay focused n find a solution to this problem at stake

MEANWHILE HIS OFFICE HAS SUBMITTED THE SPEECH TO OUR NEWS CREW FOR ALL THOSE ABOUT TO EXPLORE THE INDUSTRY TO HAVE A GLIMPSE OF Cde Blacka's Attachment in which he scored Distinctions in Continuous Assessment and Attachment Report.........read and understand well fellow academias and pick up one or two things from this great man's experience..............

First and foremost I would like to thank the university management, teaching and non-teaching staff, students leadership and the students at large, for creating an environment that is conducive for learning, coupled with innovative interaction. It is this mutual understanding between these authorities and us as students that is going to give my fellow brothers and sisters who are about to go for attachment, a cutting urge when they fit into various companies and organizations for the internship period. Fellow academias, 20 months back, I was also excited as you are today, just the thought of me working for my own salary and the image of myself in my own office answering business calls, and even being served with morning tea, got me excited. You can imagine how it can be to be a small boss. Now the reality brothers and sisters is to come as soon as you get into an interview were you should convince the panel on your potential benefit to the company. After succeeding, you will then receive a proper induction to the organisation, were they will allow you to fully integrate. Whether joining a large organisation, or an SME, as an Intern just entering the job market you may find the workplace intimidating. It is then important for you to create good personal relations with the staff of that company and get used to the values of the organisation to help you integrate into the team, and allow yourself to hit the ground running.
Of great need is for you to demonstrate personal maturity, to become conversant with governing rules, policies and procedures, to become conversant with due process procedure, to participate in the formulation of new ideas and innovative policies, for the benefit of both your company and our great country Zimbabwe. This I know you are all capable of delivering as your group is full of intelligent people, the only tip I can give you is to move from the theory stage and enter the application or practical stage. Ask yourself a question, where does corporate governance apply in this department, where does corporate finance apply in this department, Recombinant DNA Technology, where does Digital Signal Processing apply when in Mechatronics? If you link all that you have been learning for the past two years with your company situation, you will definitely come up with new ideas good for that organization. I am a living testimony to that; I was attached at a Company called Agri-Biotech (pvt) Ltd from the period January- December 2011. I worked in the Plant Tissue Culture Lab, Molecular Biology Lab, and also in the Fields. Today I happen to be the first one to come up with a reproducible regeneration protocol for Covo, tis on its own benefiting the company and the nation at large in the foreseeable future.
As you go out there fellow brethren you have a responsibility to read, understand and clarify, if necessary, the statement of rights and responsibilities. It is assumed that these responsibilities will be exercised and their implementation is viewed as a function of competence. The responsibility to meet training expectations by developing competency in assessment skills, outreach and consultation skills, and other areas, the responsibility to give constructive feedback that evaluates the training experience, the responsibility to inform the Training Director of any significant concerns you may have regarding the Internship Program. You should expect due process, ongoing feedback regarding performance; you should expect availability of supervisors and the Training Director. This has happened to me and you also should expect it, a clear description of responsibilities, quantitative expectations of performance, and a hierarchy of authority. During my time, I got a self-appraisal of my performance, in which I submitted my written feeling on my ex*****on of duties. This was compared with the job description I had received the first day I started my internship job description.
Therefore in a nutshell, you should practise Excellent Communication Skills. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment. Be self-motivated and work within all departments. If you completely meet the standards of conduct and performance expected of innovative students, any company management will characterize your service as "honorable" upon discharge. A person with an Honorable discharge is considered a veteran (in most cases) and is eligible for veterans benefits. You can score a distinction in your assessment and also attachment report just as your excellence did.

Today is a big day for Chinhoyi University, a big day for the students body in specific as we are gathered to witness the orderly transfer of power in which we celebrate the unity that keeps us united and free. Yes, just recently my union ZICOSU and I were celebrating the 4 May election victory, but today what we observe is not an individual union victory, but a celebration of freedom, a symbol to an end, and a beginning, signifying renewal, as well as change. I have sworn before you and the Almighty God the same solemn oath our forbearers prescribed last year, two years and even six years ago, and this impressive ceremony adds little to the solemn sense of responsibility with which I contemplate the duty I owe to all the students of this institution. Nothing can relieve me from anxiety lest by any act of mine students interests may suffer, and nothing is needed to strengthen my resolution to engage every faculty and effort in the promotion of their welfare.
Amid the din of party strife the people's choice was made, but its attendant circumstances have demonstrated anew the strength and safety of a student’s government for the students, by the students. In each succeeding year it more clearly appears that our democratic principle needs no apology, and that in its fearless and faithful application is to be found the surest guaranty of good student’s government. I want to thank President Tafadzwa Chikukwa, for his, if any, efforts in trying to alleviate students’ problems. Whatever mistake was made by this Cde let us then join our hands together as the new leadership and the new students’ front in finding remedy and get CUT students cutting again.

We need not to shrink from honestly facing conditions at our institution today. This great empire will endure as it has endured before, will revive and will prosper. So, first of all, let me assert my firm belief that the only thing we have to fear is fear itself, a nameless, unreasoning, unjustified terror which paralyzes needed efforts to convert retreat into advance. In every dark hour of our university life a leadership of frankness and vigor has met with that understanding and support of the people themselves which is essential to victory. I am convinced that you will again give that support to leadership in these critical days. In such a spirit on my part and on yours we face our common difficulties. The cost of living at CUT has risen beyond students reach, with escalating tuition fees, accommodation fees, food prices, water and electricity crisis, disorganized off-campus transport schedules, needy students being denied registration, students and security wars, among other problems besieging the students populace. Security, Let us be one family, students and security, why should we fight, what for? All we need is to respect each other for a peaceful environment.

Taking note of the abyss in which the previous union that was leading the SRC has left us in, our liberation today is crying for unity of purpose. Yes we were racing each other yesterday; yes we were calling each other names yesterday, but the common thing between us is our mandate to represent students. Elections are over now; let us in unison call for the betterment of our current environment. Losing an election should not make you a dull person, a person who searches for irrelevant or superficial factors, a person who reacts to what someone else does and does not do, a person who thinks his loss is a result of unfairness or bad luck. Rather losing should point out both your weakness and strength, it should make you a professional, a person who analyses what was done wrong and corrects it, a person who makes consultations to those victorious and intelligent friends or opponents of his, a person who creates his own goals and game plans, a person who goes on to mentally reassess strategy and learn to adapt to changing situations. Then let us all take part in the total renewal of the students’ front. A formidable students’ force will be born out of a dream. We are going to set goals and priorities, develop programs, policies, procedures, budgets, and also develop routines and habits that will become the normal way of doing things. If we don’t revitalize as united students, a plateau will occur in the reaching of these our initial goals and decline will definitely set in. People will then begin to doubt and say, “Things are not working as well as they used to do.” Some will begin to place blame, “is this the right way to make progress? Maybe we need to change.” It is often at this point that brethren become open to false teachings as a solution to the problem when, really, renewal is what is needed. Some people will become apathetic and take a wait- and- see attitude with hopes that things will get better. Finally, some members become alienated and drop out in total disillusionment. This will mark the absolute death of the dream for the students’ body.

Therefore with a dream of integrating the SRC with the students’ body through the creation of an interactive platform between students and the SRC to strengthen the student front, we are going to formulate committees that will also include ordinary students from the various sectors of the students division. Instead of running it the 29 of us elected leaders, we are going to decentralize and have at least 160 students actively participating in their total representation, in the different committees of Sports Arts and Culture, Properties and Transport, Legal and Academic Affairs, Food Committee, Social Welfare, Information and Publicity, Finance Committee, Audit, and Disciplinary Committees. By so doing we are going to sail in one boat as unified students to create a conducive academic atmosphere for students to enhance learning.

This will take the form of negotiations, and lobbying on behalf of students in a dialogue manner. Yes we are never going to be always in agreement with the Administration, but through rational disputation answers to problems will be found. We say no to violent demonstrations, we say no to revolts, these are acts of failures, people who have shallow minds, people who have a lot to say but no facts to present. We are also going to play an advisory role to both university management and students at large so that CUT will become the best producer of a GENERATION OF ENTREPRENUERS, students who consolidate with the current Government’s initiative to economically empower the young people of this nation. There is a high rate of students graduating every year and all of us may not be employed, therefore students from CUT must be at the forefront of utilizing the youth Development Fund and also at the forefront of strategizing the indigenization drive, and take up influential roles in key sectors of the economy which include mining, agriculture, tourism, and ICT. I therefore want to applaud those 2.2 students and their lecturers who came up with an idea to design and parade new products two weeks ago, such intelligent ideas are what we are advocating for as student leaders. Let us all BE INVOLVED in total quality management, which is never an accident, but an intelligent effort by the students front, and I being your leader am committed to meeting and surpassing all your expectations, but all that I request from my fellow academias is to go for quality. Our Total quality management will involve everyone despite any differences in religious beliefs and political affiliation, in a continual effort to improve quality and achieve majority students’ satisfaction. If we all take part in a continuous flow of incremental improvements from the bottom of the students hierarchy up to myself, with a lasting commitment to the process of continuous improvement, we are going to yield results.
What the current ruling union ZICOSU has done is to set a foundation, meant to benefit the majority students. To that effect we are in students’ government today and will then represent everyone, and thus I call upon all of you to work together and also support the current leadership in pushing the foundation to the next level. Foundations are important for building, foundations are important for educational institutions, and foundations are essential in one’s life. All we need to do as intellectuals is to unite around our belief, the belief for freedom to affordable education. Yesteryear’s generation, those who fought for Zimbabwe’s academic freedom left a Legacy. From the settler regime’s bottle neck education system, we now have an education for all system, what are we doing as a new generation? President Mugabe is a living Legacy, hate it or love it, he liberated us by leading his ZANU-PF to fight against our white enemies. That is our history which defines who we are today, and shapes our tomorrow. As a generation let us defend the gains brought to us by the previous generation, Let us defend the education for all system. All we demand today are grants and affordability. Some can deny it, but the truth is not so vague or relative that it is impossible to ascertain departures from or corruptions of that truth. However those who err from the truth will not shake the foundation that we have built as a successful Zimbabwean people and as a whole students’ front. All we need are faithful people who support faithful leaders regardless of opposition, trials, storms, or success in life.

It is said in Ecclesiastes 9 vs. 11, “I returned and saw under the sun that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, nor bread to the wise, nor riches to men of understanding, nor favor to men of skill; but time and chance happen to them all.” I have taken an oath today in the presence of God and fellow students to uphold and defend the Constitution of the SRC. To that oath I now add a sacred commitment of consecrating my office, my energies, and all the wisdom I can summon, to the cause of peace amongst the students. Fellow UBAs and USAs yesterday is gone, it’s gone forever. Tomorrow may never come, but you have today. Use it. Don’t waste it. Savor it. Enjoy it. Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely; whatever is admirable- if anything is excellent or praiseworthy, let us think about such things.

SENIOR ZICOSU CADRES JOIN THE CUT FIRST FAMILY IN CELEBRATING THE BIRTHDAY OF FIRST DAUGHTER........

Yesterday ZICOSU National Executive members, ZICOSU CUT CHAPTER Senior Executive members and all ZICOSU members, joined their National Deputy Treasurer who is also ZICOSU CUT CHAPTER President, and CUT SRC President, Cde Stanley Tafadzwa Moyo "BLACKA" and his wife Victoria Rutendo Moyo in celebrating their daughter, Ruvarashe Joyline Moyo's first Birthday. Commenting on the kindness of his Lieutenants, Cde Blacka said, " I feel greatly honored to be leading people who are so considerate and supportive, this kind gesture by my fellow Cdes makes me proud, i am proud to be both a father to Ruvarashe and to ZICOSU. I want to thank you Cdes for the unconditional love, May our Good Lord Bless you in abbundance. To Ruvarashe i want to say grow a wise woman, and grow to be a leader also, you are blessed to be celebrating your birthday just a day after our ZICOSU Secretary for Information, Cde Chapingidza's Birthday. It pains to hear Dead Unions like ZINASU speak in a way to deceive students so that they rot together, pliz dont follow them when they go against R.G Mugabe's led ZANU-PF Government's policies for these policies are there to add economic stability to the students front. ZINASU is always talking about ZICOSU and ZANU-PF instead of laying what they are offering students on the table. A GENERATION OF ENTREPRENEURS

When Taurai Gwatidzo (27) enrolled at a local university six years ago he was optimistic that upon being honoured with an engineering degree his life would never be the same again.
He was well aware of the shortage of engineers, due to the brain drain in the country, and confident that a job awaited him.

Determined and committed to his studies, Gwatidzo graduated with flying colours.
But, like in the animal kingdom, it dawned on him that there was need to devise other survival tactics or risk just bragging to be a holder of the prestigious degree.
Today, Gwatidzo finds himself in a totally different situation than he had imagined.

He has since awakened to smell the coffee and come to terms with the grim reality that Zimbabwe no longer offers employment.
“Many companies have since closed and I could not get employed,” said Gwatidzo.
“But I think I am one of the lucky few. I managed to secure a loan from a relative to start my own business.”
Analysts contend that education in Zimbabwe should equip people with additional skills to become their own bosses and not just employees.

They say the Government’s indigenisation and empowerment programme has inspired graduates from higher and tertiary institutions to re-visit their roles in the economy.
Veteran educationist Dr Sikhanyiso Ndlovu said the education system should focus on preparing students for entrepreneurship in line with the country’s indigenisation thrust.
“Many graduates are beginning to realise that they have a bigger role to play in the country’s economy than just seeking employment after school,” said Dr Ndlovu.

“We should have a philosophical shift in our education system in order to produce business-oriented graduates.
“In line with our indigenisation programme we should be producing graduates who are ready to employ.
“The Nziramasanga Commission of Inquiry of the mid-1990s recommended that we should move towards equipping our graduates with vocational and entrepreneurship skills.”

Latest statistics shows that over 15 000 students graduate annually, 9 000 from universities whilst the remainder comes from other institutions of higher learning which include polytechnics.
Sadly, most of these graduates eye formal institutions as the only source of employment.
Economic analyst Mr Kurai Masenyama said youths should be at the forefront of strategising the indigenisation drive.

“Firstly, youths should be taught, from high school, to value the benefit that would accrue if Zimbabweans controlled their resources,” he said.
“Therefore youths in high schools should use debating clubs, drama clubs, public speaking events, junior council chamber debates and Junior Parliament debates to share information about indigenisation and refine ideas.

“Unemployed youths in rural areas and townships should find value in crafting ideas around indigenisation.
“Youths should take ownership of the entire empowerment drive right up to its conclusion. After all, the programme was essentially designed for them and posterity.”

Minister of Youth Development, Indigenisation and Empowerment Cde Saviour Kasukuwere said youths, especially those from colleges, must take advantage of facilities such as the Youth Development Fund.
He said they should aim to take up influential roles in key sectors of the economy which include mining, agriculture and tourism.

“The Youth Development Fund is there to benefit the young generation and, as Government, we urge them to utilise it. Youths, especially those from colleges, should use their education and training to turn around the country and contribute to its socio-economic status.

“Gone are the days when the youth were expected to look for work upon completing their studies.
“Now they should focus on starting their own businesses and employing their kith and kin,” said Cde Kasukuwere.

Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education Dr Washington Mbizvo said many students are graduating from higher and tertiary institutions every year and they cannot be all employed.
He said youths should capitalise on the Government’s indigenisation and empowerment policy to curb the rate of unemployment in the country.

“The acquired skills should be applied to the ground in connection with the indigenisation and economic empowerment policy.
“There are a lot of students graduating from higher and tertiary institutions every year and they can't all get employed. They should then utilise the funds allocated to youths through empowerment and start their own businesses.

“This will also help to balance the country's unemployment rate,” said Dr Mbizvo.
The Government introduced the indigenisation and empowerment policy to benefit the local people, especially from the industry and business sector.

The Act stipulates that all foreign firms should cede 51 percent of its shares to the local people and remain with 49 percent.
Most of the firms have complied with the policy and the Government recently urged those reluctant to leave the country with immediate effect.
