RUSANGU UNIVERSITY HOSTS ANGOLAN EMBASSY DELEGATION, STRENGTHENING BILATERAL TIES AND STUDENT SUPPORT

Monze, Zambia – 20 August 2026 – Rusangu University was privileged to host a delegation from the Embassy of the Republic of Angola at its Main Campus in Monze on 20 August 2026. The visit reaffirmed the strong and cordial relationship between the University, the Angolan student community, and the Embassy.

The delegation paid a courtesy call on the Acting Vice Chancellor, Dr. Atangambuyu Silungwe, and the University Administration Board, where fruitful discussions were held on a range of matters, including challenges affecting Angolan students and issues that could potentially impact their welfare, academic progress, and overall university experience.

The University and the Embassy resolved to strengthen their collaboration and maintain an open channel of communication to ensure that emerging challenges affecting students are addressed promptly, constructively, and amicably. The discussions underscored their shared commitment to creating an environment in which every student can thrive academically, socially, and personally.

Following the discussions, the delegation toured various facilities and ongoing developments across the University campus. The Embassy expressed its appreciation for the remarkable transformation and rapid development taking place at Rusangu University and commended Management for its vision and continued efforts to position the institution as a world-class university.

A key highlight of the visit was the opportunity for the Embassy delegation to interact with Angolan students at Rusangu University. The University currently has more than 40 students from Angola, alongside students from more than 13 African countries. This growing international student population reflects Rusangu University's increasingly diverse and multicultural character, bringing together students from different nations, cultures, and backgrounds.

The Angolan student community expressed profound appreciation to both the University and the Embassy for facilitating the engagement. Students described the visit as an important opportunity to reconnect with their diplomatic representatives, share their experiences, and strengthen the bonds between Angola and Zambia. The engagement also served to renew and further strengthen the relationship between the Angolan community and the University.

Speaking during the engagement, Acting Vice Chancellor Dr. Atangambuyu Silungwe reaffirmed that student welfare remains at the heart of Rusangu University's mission. She assured the Embassy that the University would continue to treat all students fairly and equitably, regardless of nationality or background, and would endeavour to ensure that every student feels welcomed, valued, supported, and at home while pursuing their studies away from their respective countries.

The visit represented more than a diplomatic engagement; it was a testament to the power of education to build bridges between nations, foster cultural understanding, and create enduring partnerships. Rusangu University looks forward to deepening its collaboration with the Embassy of the Republic of Angola and continuing to provide a supportive, inclusive, and world-class learning environment for students from Angola and across the African continent.
